Ordering new 2022

Recommended Posts

GM chat was able to tell me that my vehicle has been produced and is awaiting shipping.  For reference, reserved and ordered on 4/4.  Order accepted by GM 5/5.  TPW 6/20.

SLT crew cab short bed

3.0 Duramax

SLT premium plus pkg

x31 protection pkg

sunroof

Now I just have to see when it ships and what it is missing when it arrives.

Just received a check from GM for the difference between the agreed upon price at Ordering in February and the price I paid when I got the truck in May!  My contact at my dealership did all the legwork, I didn't do anything other than notify him I should have paid the original price.

I just got a happy surprise in my email, assuming there are no restrictions that will prevent me from using it. I had planned on ordering a 2022, but the order fell through when Chevy stopped building any more Silver Ice trucks. So I told the dealer to hold off and order a 2023 in the new gray color that's coming out. Well I got an email from Chevy saying that since my order couldn't be fulfilled, they're giving me a $3,000 coupon off of a 2023 order, which I was planning anyway. As long as I can take delivery by January. Hopefully there are no constraints that push me past that timeframe.

Nice, that will probably just cover the price increase MY23 is gonna get.

close to two months after the truck is build and is not shipping .... why ? what is going on ?

It is very widely publicized that GM has many thousands of vehicles that were “built short” sitting in lots waiting on one component or another. No one can tell you when the shortage for your specific truck will be resolved.

Ordering a truck, or any vehicle for that matter, today is not something am impatient person should do. It’s not like this is a new thing, we’ve seen this for over a year.

I'm in the same boat. My truck was built in May and has been awaiting "shipping". Not thrilled that my '22 will already be a model year old and has been baking in the hot Texas (?) sun for a couple of months either. I would have preferred if GM said they did not have enough parts to build my truck, at present, and then notify me when they did. This has kind of taken the luster off of the whole "be the first to reserve the new AT4X", which I did....

Finally took delivery of my 2022 refresh Sierra 1500 Denali Friday.  Ordered Dec 16th and built May 20th.  It's been a long wait but well worth it.  This truck is awesome.

Great looking truck.  I have same truck and same color, I have had it about 1 month and loving it.  What engine did you get ?

I got the 6.2L V8 and love the power.  The only thing that's missing is the park assist and it's supposed to be retrofitted later this year. I'm so glad I remained patient and waited for this one.  It's worth it.  Enjoy 2fastmc.  I know you are.

Update:  Dealership says the truck is "missing parts" and sitting in a lot somewhere in Ohio.  They have no idea when it might actually ship.  They said there has been no consistent pattern for how long an ordered, built but missing parts vehicle might sit.  I went into this thinking 3 to 6 months to get the truck.  It looks like if anything that might be optimistic.  Half joking asked when 2023 production starts and they said don't bother it could be 9 months before any of those start showing up - clearly they are as frustrated as I am.

yesterday I chat with gm and ask them why is my truck been build 2 months a go but not shipping, they didn't have a answer so lather that day someone from GM  actually call me they try to locate my truck using my order number and nothing was coming up than she ask me for my vin, I provided ,she was like nothing is coming up on our system for your order, she ask if I wanted to escalate it  to higher up I said no , today I email my dealer, and I got this , (It still shows produced and waiting "In-transit". So we are just waiting for GM to ship it. )
