09 6.0 engine wiring harness compatibility?

Recommended Posts

What is the reason for wanting to use it on a 5.3?

The 6.0 in those trucks is based on the L76 engine, so it has VVT and AFM/DoD. So to use it on a 5.3 and have all connectors work it would only work on a 2010+ GEN 4 5.3 engine because those are VVT/AFM engines.

The harness could be used on an older 2007-2009 5.3 engine but the VVT wiring wouldn't be used and the calibration/tune would have to changed because of that. Or VVT would need to be added back in the 5.3.

I know for sure that the MAP sensor connector wiring was changed on 2010+ if I remember right so two pins would have to swapped if you were using the older MAP sensor.

So it's simple but also minor complications.

Then a 2010-2013 harness is going to be the most similar because it already has VVT and AFM wiring like that 6.0 does.

Like I said though the MAP connector is different on the newer harness because they used a different MAP sensor on those years. I almost forgot too, the MAF sensor is different on 2010+ as well.

Finding a 6.0 harness is likely tough because they only made that engine for a few years.

Or find an older 5.3 harness and wire in the VVT stuff. I suppose there are many ways to do it but each involves extra steps unless you can track down the exact harness.
