DexosD availability - Still somewhat of a Unicorn?

Recommended Posts

I've been getting my 0W20 DexosD for the 3.0L from local dealers but have yet to find the Mobil branded stuff off the shelf anywhere else.  Of course you can still find it at Amazon and Ebay but wondering if anyone's seen it start to show up in stores like Walmart.  I've heard that NAPA may have an equivalent but I haven't seen anything there either.  Any luck outside of the dealer or ordering online?  Also, I'm well aware of the whole Amsoil debate so I'd rather not go there. Thanks...

I'd go get the Amsoil version.

Is there some concern surrounding amsoil's dexosD equivalent?

It’s taking longer to get oil supplies, and the price of the oil has gone up.  There are shortages of additives driving the costs way up.

Before I switch over to Amsoil this last change I was getting the Mobile oil through O'Reilly's. They had to order it in but said they were going to keep it in stock. I have a buddy that get the Amsoil through so I'll go that route from here on out, plus gives me a excuse for a visit anyway....😉

The local Napa’s stock it around here. You could have yours order it for you I’m sure. You may find it with the older label where DexosD is not included. As long as it’s Mobil part number 125386 it is the DexosD oil regardless of what the label says. You can contact Mobil and confirm this for yourself.

It does seem to be out of stock most places online. I have a back order from summit that is supposed to ship this coming week. You can order it at a premium from eBay or Amazon and get it now.

My local ACDelco / Motocraft suppliers have DexosD in stock. I have not seen the Mobil1 ESP X2 in stock anywhere.

PF66 is getting low inventory right now but UPF66R still good availability.

My wife went to get her oil changed yesterday at the dealer. She said there was a truck next to her in line. The lady from the service lane came out and talked to the driver and then he drove off. I'm assuming he had a diesel. Then the service lady came to my wife and asked her to pop the hood so she could check the oil needed for her car so that they had it in stock. I've not heard of an oil shortage but, I guess there is now?

I'm starting to hear of issues getting oil.  A friend of mine is having work done on his house and the contractor said that they are having issues getting oil for their trucks. This is over in New Mexico.  I have not heard of anything here.

Its probably just logistics delaying things.

There is shortage of available drivers and backlog of deliveries.

My wife has a Sams card. I fill her car up every Sunday there after church. It’s 20 cents higher in one week. There’re  already warning about shortages on many items. As the old saying goes. Those who forget the past…… I’m lucky to have cushion. I remember the Jimmy Carter days of high interest. You want a certain brand. Stock up.

Last weekend my 3.0L didn't have enough oil in it to reach the dipstick, dealer closed at 2pm on saturday, it was 2:30 before I knew I needed oil... couldn't source any option till monday morning.  3.0L going down the road now, will be in a 6.2L hopefully next week if it arrives... it's currently at the rail ramp unload yard
