Mark Marquard
Hello everyone, I am new here but I had an issue this morning and wanted to get some advice on what I should do. Vehicle is a 2019 Chevy Silverado 2500HD Duramax w/ 11k miles. this morning 9/11/21 I start my truck up and head to work on the way I notice the check engine oil light came on so I get to work and was running late so I don’t mess with it, on my break I go out pull the dipstick and it’s dry... look under the truck and there are two water bottle sized oil spots on the ground and the undercarriage is coated with oil. The truck went in on 8/31/21 for recall work I had an oil change and fuel filter done as well. I call the dealership and tell them what’s going on and after some explaining that it was just serviced two weeks ago and that I was unable to drive it to them, they send a tow truck, come to find out the mechanic didn’t check to see if the old oil filter seal came off with the filter and just put the new one on and called it good. That’s what the service manager told me. So they fixed that and brought my truck back to work for me. I requested this be documented and I wanted a full check up on the engine to make sure nothing was hurt. What should I do next? I don’t want the warranty to expire and then 1000-2000 miles over the engine gives out and I have to cover the cost for something they messed up. Thanks again for any advice at all. Mark If you didn't suffer from low oil pressure you're likely fine.
CamGTP
There is nothing you can do more than likely. If you/them monitor the situation and nothing happens within a few days/weeks and a few thousand miles, the engine is going to be fine. If there was no engine knocking or clatter it didn't run itself dry and hurt itself. You're 89,000 miles from being out of warranty, that's a ton of mileage left. i82much
get a used oil analysis done and see whether you have excess wear metals.
