2001 Suspension Differances of the Silverado 1500 and 1500 HD.

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone,

I am restoring my 2001 Silverado 1500 Ext. Cab LT 4x4 5.3,  one of the leaf spring mounts broke and the spring punched through the bed. So I purchased new heavier springs. I figured they were just a few bucks more, why not beef up a little bit. Now I am getting ready to do the front end and would like to know if I can install all new 1500HD steering parts?

Correct. The 1500HD is a 2500 frame, it's a 8 lug truck.

Nothing on the front suspension is the same. It's very possible that those rear leaf springs won't fit either because of the frame differences. But I've never tried to do that swap.

I’m sure you’re already done, but the 1500HD springs will absolutely bolt on to the 1500. I swapped my leaf springs for HD’s a few months ago. Capacity is just over 2000lbs, and raises your rear end roughly 1.5”
