02 Silverado fog lamp replacements

I searched far and wide through all the posts and everyone said buy the bulbs so I did. Unfortunately I was dissappointed with the bulbs from PIAA, Sylvania and others. Now I want to change my fog lamps altogether so the housing GM factory has doesn't limit the range and it floods the road better. has anyone tried to connect directly to the lamp assembly an aftermarket housing and hook-up? I don't want to rewire the whole thing.

Thanks.

I think you're limited by the factory wiring. If I remember correctly, the factory lamps are rated at 27 watts a pop. I don't think there's a lot of high quality aftermarket lamps rated at only 27 watts.

Since I'm stupid, I've slowly replaced all my 2001 Tahoe lighting with HID. Here's what I have replaced my factory fog lamps with:

I haven't actually seen them, but the description is that they are a direct factory replacement fit for 99-02 Silverado's using H3 bulbs. Pilot PL-133C and PL-133B.

C for clear and B for Blue. A Google search on the part number and few places come up for around $160.

That doesn't mention a wiring harness, but the fact that you need a separate relay/switch suggest there is one. Good looking though. Again, the fundamental deal is that there doesn't appear to be a plug in application like we all would like.
