Hitch Pin Weight

Recommended Posts

The thing to remember is there are only two numbers that are VIN specific on the trailering label:  curb weight and payload.  The max conventional, max gn, and tongue/pin weight are based on SAE calculation.  SAE calculation uses base vehicle mass for heavy duty trucks.  That means your max GN / fifth wheel is likely significantly lower if you have denali/high county.  I have seen situations where the max pin weight is actually higher than the available payload.
