Am I missing something or did GM drop the ball?

Recommended Posts

Just bought a 2021 3500 Denali and with all the bells and whistles on this thing, it appears to not have lane keep assist or adaptive cruise control. Am I correct or am I missing something? It seems odd that GM would included so many driver assistant features but leave these two out.

it has lane departure warning, seat will vibrate, but not assist. unless your truck is victim to the chip issue and they removed that feature. on the dash buttons, center cluster, there is a little button with icon that looks like a vehicle going out of the lane; that is the lane keep alert button.

adaptive cruise control is not on the HD trucks, only the 1/2 tons

Yes it has lane departure warning. I got that figured out. Just would have thought they would have included both as opposed to just one. Hadn't thought about being a HD vehicle. That may be the reason it doesn't have either.

Don't expect adaptive cruise in the HD until they go to the VIP platform for the electricals so whenever the refresh hits 2023/2024 model year.  They will probably just jump straight to SuperCruise instead seeing they are going to launch that on the 2022.5 1500 trucks.  It will have the ability to SuperCruise while towing.

Nope, no Lane Keep Assist on the HD trucks. GM has said they have no plans to add Adaptive Cruise to the HDs either, as they claim there isn't consumer demand for it. I find that hard to believe, as both Ram and Ford have it on their heavy duty/SuperDuty trucks.

GM continues to be about 5 years behind compared to the others.

GM is ahead in many ways:  pickup bed is larger, built-in side steps allow easy access to the bed, bumper steps are superior to any other pickup, independent front end gives a better ride and there is no 'death wobble', camera system is far better than the others, multi-pro tailgate.  I have a 2019 Ford Raptor with the carbon fiber dash inserts and all of the features.  I never feel like I'm stepping down when I drive the LTZ - it's great truck!

would agree.....last 3 years i was DEAD SET on Ram and all 3 times i bought GM......i picked the functionality, reliability (generally speaking) and looks of the truck over a huge screen and knick knacks.... i didnt like the roundness of Ram hood from drivers seat......it bothered the ****** out of me......GMC is very square......the stupid things people notice, lol

funny but i just couldnt pull the trigger when it came down to it........had funny feeling and decided to listen to it, weird
