That’s one way to get your trucks in lots to be sold. On the other hand I wonder just how much work/labor needed to get a chip installed ? Is it easy or hard or time consuming ? It’s not your rebuilding a trans or engine , right ?

you think they have to solder in a semiconductor,   I think not,  more likely install a module

Chevrolet is doing this also.  The dealer I bought my 1500 at had two 2500s sitting in the back waiting for some parts with chips before they could be sold.
