Bought 2016 Chevy Silverado and having shifting issues

Recommended Posts

I bought a used 2016 Chevy Silverado ZT1 4X4 with 58K miles a couple weeks ago. I love the truck but noticed when I start going about 15-17 MPH, it shifts gears and does a sudden jerk. Is this the "hard shifting" that a lot of buyers are talking about? Can I take my used one to any Chevy dealer and they will fix it under warranty or is it best to get a aftermarket tuner to fix the issue?

Any info is much appreciated. Thanks!

At that many miles do you know if the transmission has been serviced before?  If not you might want to do that.  If it is the 8sp the new fluid from the dealer is supposed to really help.

My 1-2 hard shift has dramatically reduced. If I was to put a percentage,  I would say it's reduced by atleast 90% and that 10% left is a light bump when shifting. The cause to my hard shift might not be the same for you.

I believe my was due to poor grounds. I ground the transmission to frame, block to frame, body to frame and negative to body. When I have more time, I'll chase transmission wire and see where it's grounded and try to clean that ground.
