All those beeps...

Recommended Posts

Has anyone tried or know if there is a way to stop the alerts for key left in vehicle and engine left running? WAMS? This seems right up your alley

scenario 1: stopping by the mail box every day. get out of the truck and walk in front of it to step up to the mailbox and the horn blasts right in your ear at the very moment you're directly in front of it! I now have to remember to get out, close the door, and wait for the beeps before I walk to the mailbox. neighbors are going to think I'm weird for standing next to my truck all the time.

scenario 2: recently saw a guy walk from his new T1 into a convenience store at a gas station, and his truck beeped at him. chuckled to myself, he left his keys in his truck...then realized. yes he did. and the truck just announced as such to the entire crowded fuel station. Now he shouldn't have left his keys in there, but did the truck really have to alert everyone that its ready to be stolen?

These are both in the vehicle settings.

Remote Left in Vehicle Alert

This feature sounds an alert when the RKE transmitter is left in the vehicle. This menu also enables Remote No Longer In Vehicle Alert.

Touch Off or On.

Remote Removed from Vehicle Alert

This feature beeps the horn 3 times when exiting a running vehicle with the
remote key.

Touch Off or On.

remote left in vehicle I found, there is no setting for remote removed from vehicle alert. that's very frustrating, was it added later or removed at some point?

I believe it was added for 2021. My '19 doesn't have an option to turn off the Remote Removed from Vehicle horn chirp.

My 19 Denali had the setting. Maybe it's only on certain trim levels for 19 & 20. Stupid horn chirp pissed me off when I would stop to get the mail late at night.

I just went and looked at the settings on my Chev. If you turn off the remote left in vehicle it will also turn off the remote not in vehicle horn chirps (there is one setting for both). I had to play with my truck in the driveway to see what happened when changing the one setting.

My remote stays in my pocket.

When I leave it running and get out and walk to back of truck to remove something it honks - I assume to remind me that it is running.

Anyway, it's not just a 'remote left in vehicle' warning, since I have it with me and the other fob is not in the vehicle either.

I do shut door, but don't lock it when I do this.

I haven't checked if it is a passive lock warning.

I don't do it often, so I guess I haven't worried about it.  Yet.

while testing this out, I discovered something else that seems like a software bug. if you get into your truck in the garage sitting in the passenger's seat (because its easier to access in the garage) turn on the ignition, no engine start, to change the settings, turn the ignition back off an exist the vehicle, the infotainment screen seems to stay on...permanently, it never shuts off unless you walk around the truck and open and close the drivers door, then it powers down. seems it doesn't recognize the passenger's door for knowing when its time for RAP to turn off. I find this really odd. I'm sure it would time out eventually, but it was on for 15 minutes or so when I went back to double check that setting is absent, screen was still on from my earlier attempt.

Same scenario with the mailbox here.... I just leave the door closed but not completely shut.....no beeps. Solved.
