Headlight bulb replacement

Recommended Posts

Hi,
I have 2018 Silverado 1500 black widow Edition. I bought a pair of D5S replacement bulbs only to find out there is no access on the headlight housings to change a bulb. I watched all the you tube videos that shows a “dust cover” that your remove to access the bulb to change it, however my truck does not have a removable cover, it a a solid plastic housing. I even removed the whole headlight assembly from the truck to see it there was another way to access where the bulb would be and there wasn’t any. I’m stumped, do you have any information on what the deal is with that?

Thanks,

Do you have the "T4L" - HEADLAMPS, LED PROJECTOR WITH SIGNATURE DRL AND TURN?

Just curious, are the LEDs replaceable?

That's the RPO code for the LED headlights. You find that number on the RPO card in the glove box.

So, does your truck have LED headlights from the factory?

No RPO code sticker in the glove box on the 18's. That is how they started saving millions in dollars🤔

We have a QR code sticker in the door jamb, which shows about 75% of options on your smart phone.

LED's (at least the turn signals/park lights) are not replaceable, one and done. Whole unit needs to be replaced.

Yes there led from factory. Crazy chevrolet has you replacing the whole headlight unit when the bulb eventually goes out!

Did your bulb burn out or were you trying to up grade? Is it possible to drill a hole where the rear cover is on other lights & replace the old one?

Think he meant to say whole headlight unit. Can not just replace the LED bulb.

Whole thing goes into garbage.

Do you know why you can't repair rather than trash one expensive light housing? I've seen the led taillights being repaired. Maybe a good side line business.
