Military Discount

I noticed the military discount site as of May no longer allows you to build and price a vehicle. All it mentions is the $500 rebate. Is the discount t officially gone? Anyone had any luck? I realize a lot of dealerships are no longer honoring it due to supply but in the off chance I find one that is. Does it still exist? Also, the educators discount site, is it doing the same thing? My wife qualifies but I’m not going to have her go through the process if it’s the same thing. Thanks for your time.

It looks like the Educator discount is in the same situation. They took away the Build and Price option and only mention the $500 discount. The Supplier discount site however is still showing the Build and Price option and the true discount. Build and Price is not available for 2022 models yet however. Frankly, since this move is across all product lines and models I don’t think it has much to do with demand alone and of all of the programs to cut the military discount just seems like a low blow. If you are going to tout these programs as a PR platform for good corporate stewardship, then you should stand behind them unequivocally.

I was able to use my military discount at the dealership. I did not build my truck on the website or at the dealership. I guess I had good timing as they had the truck I wanted. They did, however, honor the military discount for me...$500.

Military, Educator and First Responder discounts are now only $500. Prior to this month they where the same as Supplier.

I was also given the first responder discount on my truck I purchased 2 weeks ago.

That was a great (supplier) discount on top of the trade in on my 2015 . I still get discount alerts on other things from various companies.

This is what I was referring to. The discount still exists but $500 is not as good as the previous discount program.

That’s what I was afraid of, last month it was showing 3-4K off of a gas LTZ (not that I could find one) now $500. And only a $250 rebate. Talk about pulling the rug out from under you. Bummer

GM changed their military discount starting May 1st. They dropped it to $500 flat rate. I bought my 2021 3500 AT4 on 4/30 and the dealership said I got lucky. My discount was $5500 off. If I would have purchased on 5/1, I would have lost out on $5000 in discounts. It stinks they changed it, but unfortunately right now they can’t keep inventory on the lots.

As of yesterday, they still honor it. I bought an in bound truck and knowing what prices are like, I was just happy to know I found a dealer doing true MSRP with no mark up. When the salesman saw my military ID in my wallet, he asked me about it. And then told me they have a discount. I ended up getting $1,000 customer rebate. Not sure what the other $500 was.

All they have to do is go into the ID.me site and it verifies your military affiliation. I actually think the rebate is from GM Corporate, not the dealer. So I don't know why they would not offer it at the dealer.

Yes, the military discount program still exists and it is a fixed amount ($500 I believe) directly from GM corporate, so dealers should honor it either way, but some do not. When people say they did away with the discount, what they mean is that prior to May 1, the military discount was the same as Supplier Discount which is roughly 5-7% off MSRP. Like the previous poster said, by buying on April 30 vs May 1, his discount was $5500 vs $500.

The discounts are not being offered currently because they are looking at the 2022 model years. On the discount website it talks about how in the beginning of model years the discount is not offered so dealers can build stock. I don’t foresee that happening anytime soon.
