Direct Current Power Outlet

Recommended Posts

Is it possible to change the DC Power Outlet (old cigarette lighter outlet) from constant on to switched on/off?  I use this port for my radar detector and it stays on when the truck is off.  I am afraid it will drain down the battery over time.

Find the fuse for the power outlet and look to see if it’s one if those three pin fuse locations where you can shift the fuse to an alternate position to connect the load to switched power.  If it is, switch the fuse position and you’re done.

On the passenger side fuse panel there is a square red fuse block.  Move it over to the pin that is exposed and will shut off until truck is started.
