2020 High Country 6.2L Whipple Supercharger Build

Recommended Posts

I dropped the truck of at the dealer this afternoon to have the Whipple installed.  They claim it will take 11 hours, so I should have it back on Friday.
I installed a Borla True Dual S Type cat-back exhaust with the optional resonators to bring the volume down a bit.  It really sounds good!

I ordered a new ECM from RockAuto for $200 and sent that to HP Tuners to be modified.

The Whipple took less than a month to be delivered, so I was a caught off guard when I got the shipping notification and “had to” (read: wanted to) rush to get everything set up for the install.

I want to maintain the good relationship with the dealer I bought the truck from, in hopes that, if there are any warranty issues with the truck that could be questionably related, they will work with me. That, and they have been good to me on the other mods I have had done. It also has the Trail Boss lift with an extra inch to level the front, new wheels with 35X11.50R20 Ridge Grapplers and it has Road Armor Stealth bumpers on the front and rear.

I am excited for the the outcome!

That's awesome! Cant wait to see and hear it, need some videos asap

Gotta ask... whats the rough cost for all of it?

For everything, right around $15k.  I’ll post more pics when it is done.

  • AEmedic changed the title to 2020 High Country 6.2L Whipple Supercharger Build

Won't it need an actual dyno tune for safety or does HP tuners have one on the shelf for a whipple and that exhaust set up?

It seems in my experience that each vehicle can vary on the tune efficiency.

LOVE IT and following.

As long as it only has a cat-back, the canned tune from Whipple will be adequate for ~150 HP gain.  There is the likelihood that having it dyno tuned could yield more, but for me, 150 HP is good enough and will help the tranny last longer... The Whipple tune is also 50 state emission compliant and that could be a good thing.

Wishing you better luck than me.  I tried to get a Whipple to work on my truck, but they were unable to remote tune it properly with the 35" tires.  Many attempts later and many days of not being able to drive the truck, they gave up and agreed to take it back for a refund.  Still cost me nearly $500 in unrecoverable expense, shipping, etc.

Not that there is a huge pool of our trucks driving around with a Whipple but I have only heard of yours having an issue like that.  I HOPE that mine goes like most of them that are on the road...

First I've heard of an inability to tune also. You read the stock tune out with the software and send it to them, that's how they know the exact spec on your truck, re calibrate it for the changes the Whipple will give, and send you the programmed file. I don't know what remote turning is about, unless you're talking about that process.

They were great to work with overall, although they did apparently refuse to re calibrate for my non-stock tires (275/50->285/45) for some reason. such a minor thing I decided not to worry about it.

the truck runs very well with their tune.

Yep, they blamed my 35's for their inability to tune my truck.  I drove around for miles and miles with my laptop plugged in with my phone as a hotspot so they could remote in and see/control things.  Probably a dozen logs and tunes were sent back and forth.  I still have them all in a folder on my computer.  We both mutually agreed to give up and I negotiated no restock fee if I paid the shipping.  The 6.2 has plenty of power for me....no more blowers in the near future!  😂

Traction control, ESP, ABS etc can be a nightmare with these newer vehicles and tuning the ECU, the C8's you actually end up with nearly every light on the dash flashing at you when it is on the dyno.

You have to unplug the wheel sensors etc for it to work properly.

AEmedic is it home with you now and driving it?

Nope, don’t have it yet.  The tech ran into two problems.  The belt that came with it was too short and there is a T fitting on the rear of the SC that is leaking.  They are working out the T fitting issue and they are saying that it won’t be today…

Tee fitting sounds like the intercooler hose inlet/outlet.  Damn.

It was an o-ring that had rolled and was damaged.  It is fixed an running.  They have a little more bleeding to do on the cooling  system and an extended test drive and it should be done.  They just ran out of time today.
