Capless fuel fill gas cap

Recommended Posts

Don't buy the GT77 AC Delco cap mentioned in this thread. Look at it's reviews first. Should be on the Mount Rushmore of garbage OEM sponsored parts. Falls apart in your hand. A 5 year old could take it off with limited hand force in it's locked state.

There is a market for an anodized aluminum cap with a unique bolt style lock a la Genos Garage caps for the diesel RAMs. Alas, I don't own a CNC machine or poses the knowledge of how to use one.

I bought the delco locking gas cap. I agree it is a simple cap with a plastic tab that locks it on that isn’t really that great.

I can pull it off without unlocking it if I really wanted to. For me, I am more concerned about dust, water, snow getting into the shitty capless system than about the other stuff. There are holes all around the door and rubber that let all of that into the filler area.
if someone opens the gas door and sees the locking cap they are more likely to go try another vehicle than deal with the hassle I hope.

If you want to save the money the other options of paint can lids, etc will work to keep stuff out of the tank. To me this one just looks a little more robust even it it really isn’t.
Hope this review helps others decide either way.

There was some posts back around 2016 when I got my previous truck which was a 2017.

I don't recall the actual description of the cap, but I got it @ our local hardware store (HH for those of you in Canada). The cap fits my 2024 fine. It may not be lockable but keeps crud out of the filler opening.
