Trailer TPMS

Recommended Posts

I ordered a 2021 2500 AT4 gas.  I wanted to get the trailer tpms, but it did not get ordered.  I will have the AT4 Premium Plus Package, Heavy Duty Front Spring Camper Package, Gooseneck / 5th Wheel Prep Package, Power Running Boards.  What are the chances that the truck already has the trailer tpms module and I just need to buy the sensors?  Also, I read somewhere on this forum (sorry I couldn't find it again) about 3rd party cheaper sensors working with this system.  Anyone have any you like?

@NCCaptainMorgan, I can't speak to if your truck would come with the sensors or not...but I was able to purchase the sensors off of eBay for my 5th wheel travel trailer. Got the sensors added to the existing wheels at Sam's Club last week. Came home from Sam's Club and setup the sensors from the truck in dash screen. It basically had me release air from each tire (front driver's side, rear driver's side, rear passenger side, front passenger side) and I was all set!

Here is the eBay link to the ones that I purchased: https://www.ebay.com/p/25034266056?iid=254823853923

I believe I paid $85 for 4 sensors.

what i have found is more times than not most of these trucks all have the same wiring,  its just a matter of getting the proper component.  Mid 2000s I was buying trucks and going back and adding things like auto lights , etc for pennies on the dollar using oem parts.  Pop the panel plug in and off you went.  Now days I have been hearing that a lot of times the truck requires a reflash in order for new parts to work.  Some dealers are friendly about, other charge a few bucks, others a lot more.  I cant remember what I truck I had,  but it was something like all the guys with LT were trying to add remote start because it didnt offer it, only the LTZ had it.  You could get the parts for like 150 bucks, but the pcm had to be flashed and dealers were getting wise and charging 300 to do it.

If you get the sensors, it should work --   U1D is standard on 2021 HD AT4 (and also on SLT and Denali; it can be ordered on SLE, but not on base Sierra)

PTT is the order code for the 4 sensors

The trailering app (U1D) can be ordered without adding the trailer sensors

PTT         Trailer Tire Pressure Monitor Sensors, includes set of 4 sensors. Sensor functionality requires (U1D) In-vehicle Trailering App to be ordered with the vehicle and installed by the factory. Sensors will be shipped loose with the truck and will need to be installed on trailer by customer. System is capable of monitoring up to 6 wheels. Additional or replacement sensors are available through GM Accessories

U1D    In-vehicle Trailering App, System, includes checklist, trailer maintenance reminders, trailer security alerts, trailer mileage, tow/haul reminder, trailer electrical diagnostics and Trailer Tire Pressure Monitor System module

FWIW, the system can handle up to 6 sensors per trailer and can store sensor info for multiple trailers.

Trailer sensors also transmit temperature information.
