2016 Silverado 5.3 battery specs

I tend to be proactive and replace my batteries after 3 years so I don't run into trouble. However, I'm still on my original in my 16 1500 crew cab Silverado 5.3. It looks like swapping it out is a bit of a project, and I can't see the battery label without removing that bus bar with the connections. The manual also didn't have the specs listed. So, does anyone know the factory battery specs? I wouldn't mind stepping up in capability while I'm at it. Thanks.

I just changed out the battery on my '15 Sierra about 3 months ago for the same reason. I installed the Interstate MTX-94R H7. Living in a cold climate area, I opted for a few more cold cranking amps (850).  I got a good deal at Costco, but afterwards I had read somewhere that they allegedly get the batteries that have been sitting for a while (not sure of truth behind that).  The videos that show how change it out and what needs to removed are pretty spot on.

I'll jump in here with my opinion.....When I change out the battery on my '17 Silverado 5.3l, I'll put in an H7 AGM one & will probably put in the DieHard Platinum AGM Battery, Group Size H7, 850 CCA from Advance Auto, OE Group H7; OE CCA 720; Battery Spec: 850 CCA; 1000 CA; 140 Min. I believe it's a step up from the factory one. Just my opinion.

94RPG is the factory ACDelco replacement battery.  800 CCA, 140 Reserve Capacity, 80AH, so already a rather stout unit.  The 94RPG comes with a 42 month free replacement warranty so any failure in that 42 month window gets you one free replacement.  No prorate.    

One thing to keep in mind too is Reserve Capacity is more important than CCA.  You can have a 1000 CCA battery but it could have a low reserve capacity.

Shouldn't cold cranking amps be enough by itself? Not really, as CCA and RC both describe two different functions of a battery. Why is this important? Because sometimes vehicle charging systems fail and when that happens, the battery is then responsible for all the vehicle's electrical demands. For example, if your serpentine belts breaks in the middle of the night, your battery will power your headlights, windshield wipers, electric pumps and other electric accessories that are needed to get you to safe location.

One thing I like about AC-Delco batteries is that they have a date code which I believe is an estimated date placed in service date to allow for shipping and dealer turnover time. In the case of the battery in this picture it's February of 2016, the P followed by the 026 R. No matter where you buy your battery or whether it has a date code, not a bad idea to drag along your multimeter to check the voltage on that supposedly fresh battery before you walk out the door with it.

I had to replace the battery in my ‘16 a couple months ago. Went with a Duracell from Batteries Plus Bulbs. From my research, the Duracell batteries are a relabeled Deka.

Site says 720 CCA, my battery says 790 CCA

I also have a 2016. Built in Dec 2015. I purchased Jan 2016. Battery was getting weak and replaced in Jan 2021. I also opted for the Interstate MTX-94R H7. Paid $158 at my local mechanic, and it came from the distributor the day before. Could I have saved? Maybe, but it was under MSRP on Interstate site and it was a local small business. Getting the old one out was far worse than putting the new one in, for me anyway.

My 2018 stock battery (prob 2017 manufactured) is “ok” but I can only get 30 min of radio at 70% volume before I get the low battery start truck warning. Stock bose radio but aftermarket 10” sub with 300w amp. 
 

only way to listen to radio without it turning off after a few mins is key on correct? When camping, tailgating, etc
