Just bought a 21 Silverado 2.7l!

Recommended Posts

Hi, I just picked up my first new truck, a 21 2.7l Silverado custom crew cab.  So far I've been impressed by the little motor, it seems pretty efficient and for non towing duties it's just about perfect.

I do have some questions about it though:

  • Is there a catch can for the 2.7l, where do I buy it, and are there online installation directions.
  • What is the proper tire pressure, it was set to 40 from the dealer.
  • I need the 12v outlet in the cab to turn off with the ignition so I can run a dash cam.  Any hacks to get this to work?  I was told it stays on full time which eliminates the use of a dash cam.
  • Any good mesh nets that I can use under the rear seats (crew cab) for storage?  I need something portable so the large plastic trays probably won't work.
  • Does it come with wireless android auto/apple car play?  I have the lower end screen (7"?) if that matters.
  • Can I add a factory brake controller, the truck has the wiring and receiver for towing but it didn't have the brake controller built it.

Loving the truck so far, I'm going to daily drive it for a while to see what kind of mileage I can squeeze out of it.

Thanks, I'll do that!  I've read people are getting closer to 24 on the freeway with the latest iteration, with the one trip I took it seems possible.  Didn't have time to drive it today so I detailed the interior, can't wait to get the leather installed.

Look at this video  to learn how to change from always hot to Accessory. Super easy, just move the fuse one over.  Not sure on anything else other than no-go on OEM brake controller. Will need 3rd party.

Congrats on the truck. To answer a few of the other questions, the 7” does not get wireless CarPlay/ AA.

There is no way to add the factory brake controller however GM sells one in the accessory store that I’ve seen people mount in the same slot. Might be the best option.

And 40 PSI is way too high. My truck on 20” wheels calls for 35 PSI.

Thanks, that is really disappointing about the wireless AA.  There is a bluetooth dongle that will do the same thing but it would be nice if it were built in.

I'll look into the gm controller, I don't town often (hence the 2.7) so I can do without for a while.
