Fed up with my Silverado

I tried all sorts of pressure, harder braking, etc., still didn't work.

Sorry that didn’t work. The last thing I can think of is take the truck to autozone, o’reilly or some place where they can check your battery and charging system. If the battery is bad or the alternator is not charging properly then that could also cause the auto start and stop not to work. I am going based off of the experience I had with my Malibu. The alternator was bad, it would charge my battery intermittently. I don’t know how long that went on for but that caused both of my batteries to go bad (the Malibu had 2 batteries). That happened twice in 1 year. I don’t have to worry about that now since my truck didn’t come with it. I wish you good luck in trying to get this solved.

Well, I have posted before about the ever present issue of the auto stop feature not working, I know many here don't care for the feature, but with our gasoline over $4 a gallon now, it's important to me).  The last time it was in the dealership was on the phone with the factory, and once again I was told it was fixed.....I drove home (12 miles) from the dealership, took the freeway to get it good and warm, turned off all the climate controls (even though I think I should be able to use them) went to a stop light and....nothing!  This was the 4th time I had it in to get this feature fixed, each time they tell it's fixed and the first opportunity to use it nothing happens.  I also had an issue with my infotainment screen going blank and popping up with a "No Content Found" error, they did a firmware update and it worked fine until  last week when I noticed that when I opened the driver side door after shutting the engine down, the radio would keep on playing for several seconds and then it would shut down.  It never did that before it used to stop as soon as I would open the door.  Then on Friday I was stopped at a light and the infotainment system went blank, no sound no display it lasted about 15 seconds then came back on.  Anyhow, I have decided to pursue the lemon law on this truck (I have contacted a lemon law attorney), as this is absolutely ridiculous for a truck with still under 2000 miles on the odometer.  I don't know if the problems are as a result of the trucks being built in Mexico, but I am tired of it being in the service department for weeks at a time and the problems don't get fixed.

So....  Just how much power does GM have with access to our vehicles ??

I reported my Auto Stop non-functional about 5 months ago, it's been into the dealer twice, both times they said it was working, and ta-da, it never worked...

I messaged GM on Twitter, spoke to someone to place a complaint, they asked a bunch of info from me,  then, this afternoon, out of the blue, the f**king Auto Stop

started working...  I drove to work, left it for 2hrs, came back and hit the stop sign and boom, auto stop....

WTF ???

Well, that is the direction we are headed. But currently, these trucks can only get infotainment updates over the air. Not fixes for powertrain related things like start/stop.

One of the big reasons GM is introducing the Global B electronic architecture (on these trucks for 2022) is so they can OTA update these stupid little vehicle-wide software bugs (and software related recalls) without having to go to the dealer. I must have went 5 times in the first year I had this truck to get little patches done, so the new system is fine by me. If they really enjoy tracking my daily moves to McDonalds, that’s fine too. 😬

Well, I made an appointment to have it "fixed" once again.  I will have the center seat recall done as well.  I have been experiencing a fan squeak when the fan is anything above a whisper and the transmission is hesitating then slamming into gear when it's cold...and the list grows and grows.

If it's an 8-speed, the hesitation and slamming is "normal" when cold.  A remote start pre-warm will eliminate it.

LOL, my truck was built in Mexico on January 3rd. Zero actual issues (little things that i don't care to mention).

The Auto S/S does no real improvement. Technically yes if you sit at light for over 7 seconds it will save you that tiny amount of fuel. If you sit at a light for less than 7 seconds its actually burning more fuel.

I would say (WITHOUT SEEING THE TRUCK), its probably a sensor that isn't connected properly. you live in San Jose, i am in Fremont. i have a MP808 scan tool. I might be able to find the problem, but i would doubt i could find anything since the dealer couldn't. Possibly go to another dealer?

I agree--GO to another dealer!! If it still can't be fixed I would make a case with GM. Having multiple electrical issues at the same times spells more issues down the road!!

I got the truck back yesterday, they performed the 5th recall and looked at  my concern on the infotainment which they were able to duplicate.  They state that they performed a "USB" file transfer of a new software download and afterward could not duplicate the problem and the radio  turns off immediately upon opening the door, time will tell if that solved the blanking out of the screen randomly as well.  As for the Auto Start/Stop not working, they did a re-calibration of the feature and stated it was working.  I picked the truck in the morning and at the 2nd stoplight it worked!  Then I drove the 13 miles home and upon getting off the freeway, it WORKED at the 3 signal lights to my house.  That is the first time it worked 4 times in a row!! They felt the need to supply me with an instruction sheet from GM (Stop/Start System Description and Operation (KL9)).  Now after 6 key cycles, it has stopped working again.

The truck is back in the shop, I have decided I will just keep bringing it back until they decide to fix it.  I told the Service Advisor that they really should consider replacing the ECM or BCM whichever controls the feature instead of seeing me show up every 6 weeks.  Ha ha See what happens after I get it back tomorrow????

Sorry to hear about all the troubles.

I really don't enjoy the auto start/stop feature, but I agree, it should work. Makes me wonder if there isn't an undiagnosed issue like a parasitic drain (do you have any non-factory accessories?) that could be pulling down the battery voltage to charging territory and keeping the "ass" (that's my acronym for it) from working. One thing you could try without taking it to the dealer is leaving the truck plugged into to a battery tender overnight. In the morning it should be fully charged. If auto start/stop is working with the battery fully charged then quits working after a few days, that might shed light on the issue.

You are correct, though, under warranty this is the dealer's issue and they should be figuring it out. The back/forth has the unfortunate effect of wasting a lot of time and raising blood-pressure un-necessarily.
