The 1/2 tons base v8

Recommended Posts

Don't get me wrong, the 5.3l v8 that is in countless 1/2 ton trucks and SUV's is great but, what if they put a modified LS1 (5.7l) in future trucks. Now before you start getting angry and saying 0-60 times and how it tows great and what about the 6.2l, stop. The 5.3l is great but you want to impress potential buyers shouldn't you have something with greater HP ratings than the competitions. Now Before you say get the 6.2l I have stuff for you, The 6.2l motor is only offered in higher trim levels and not everybody wants those. Now if GM swapped to a ls1 or a modified one, (steel block, cylinder deactivation, cheaper components, direct inject, etc.) They would not have to deal with overhead cams and cam phaser issues or turbos like ford. All they need to do with the, 5.3 Still being an Ls configuration would be bore it out do all the computer stuff with fuel and air, all the other things with the modern technology and then boom you have a wining competitor with the Hemi, Iforce Toyota, Nissan, and Ford egoboost and coyote. Now you are winning over people who were considering the f150 and the rams and the yodas, titans because of the "best in class" title."
