Power Folding Trailering Mirrors Malfunction

Recommended Posts

Went out this morning and started my truck with power folding trailering mirrors. Passenger mirror did not stop in the correct position but continue to travel fully forward. The power mirror will retract into the park position when switch is pushed, but when I try to operate them in the normal position they swing through and the mirror actually point towards the outside of the truck. The passenger mirror will NOT park in the normal user position.
I have an appointment to take the truck in and let the local dealership look at it, but wondered if it may be just a simple reset I can do.

Have you tried to gently push it back into place?  It might just need a reset.  You might also want to try pulling the fuse for the mirrors (or battery disconnect) when they are folded in.  Again, to see if they reset.

reset them. push them closed manually. then open them with the button. open and close them 3 times with the button. the first time they open after manually closing them, they will make a loud "pop", it sounds like something broke, but it is normal

I am having a similar issue with the driver side folding very slowly and at times stopping midway. I DREAD having to take to dealership and with only 20K miles and paying a small fortune for this truck, I'm pretty bummed. I have tried to do the reset, heard the pop and everything but still have the same issue. Wondering if anyone has "upgraded" the internals with success?
