What kind of fuel mileage you guys getting?

Recommended Posts

Are you compensating for the larger tires you have on your truck when figuring mileage? If so you are getting remarkable mileage.I got 9.7 mpg avg in 58,000 miles with my 02 crewcab shortbed 4x4 8.1.I would get between 6-8mpg pulling my 28ft enclosed car hauler that weighs 8500-9000 lbs at 70 mph.Pulling a open car hauler I would get 9-10mpg.

I get 12-12.5 empty very consistently with mostly highway driving. I use to keep track of mileage all the time and I never broke 13. I get 10 mpg pulling a 18,000 lb livestock trailer. I saw no difference in mileage when I switched to large tires, but its geared low with the 4.10 rearend. Later.

if I can keep my foot out of it I used to average between 11-12 a mostly freeway commute (70-80 MPH) with some around town mixed in

one of my best tanks was towing a Toyota truck on a car hauler from Tennessee , the hauler had no suspension and I had to go slow (50mph IIRC) I got 13.5

since it got cold a few tanks ago I have been getting 9-10 :D it did not do that previous winters, the truck has been pretty consistent :jester:

That's funny, I claimed to get that kind of mileage, and ARE422DP (and others) pounced all over me! I was told I must get the best mileage in the world and I am full of it. SEE, I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT GETS THESE KINDS OF NUMBERS! :jester:

I still dont see how you guys get the same mileage a stock tired truck gets with that huge rubber you have.I have owned a truck with 35 inch tires and saw a huge decrease in mileage after putting on the big boys.My 96 K2500 HD with 5.7 went from 14mpg stock to 10 mpg with 35's.I used to belong to a 4x4 truck club and every single person saw a mileage drop after putting on bigger tires. What formula are you guys using to correct for the 20% taller tires.I still find it very difficult to believe that a 35 inch tired truck gets better mileage than my stock truck did.If you guys had stock rubber you would be getting 15-16mpg.Please elaborate.
