GM App Start with FOB in Truck

I have 2021 GMC 2500 HD Denali and I don't like carrying the FOB around all the time and am fine with using the app or optional keypad entry to open doors etc.  You can lock the doors with the app or keypad with the FOB in the console.  Why won't the truck start with the fob in the console using the app, and is there a setting or work around to make that happen?
