That sucks. Yeah maybe find another dealer or just scour the internet. Was it gas, because I think those are on constraint.

My new gas 3500HD is supposed to be unloaded from the rail car late next week, and maybe be go the the last 10 miles to the dealer within a couple of days after that. That will be about 14 weeks after I placed the order 1/9. The dealer had estimated 12 to 16 weeks. It was built the first week of March, but stayed in Flint until last week.

Congrats! I wonder why the 4 week delay in Flint? I just put a deposit on an SLE that has been built and as of 4/2 was still in Flint, no anticipated delivery date yet. After a week of calling and messaging and scouring the inventory pages for anything within 500 miles of Maine, I opted for an SLE which the dealer will add aftermarket leather to. I did find a few options out of state but having a 7 year old trade in, figuring in travel or shipping, dealers not accepting supplier pricing, etc I opted to keep my options to something within a 4-5 hour drive. I had narrowed it to a Denali about an hour away and this SLE but I just couldn't pull the trigger on the Denali. Truck should be here this month barring any delays such as yours.

Part of the delay in Flint I assume was due to the SLT premium package including a spray-on bed liner. I imagine they have to wait a certain number if days for an adequate paint cure, then they send it to a local vendor for the bed liner to be sprayed.

dumb question but something I have always thought on these spray in bedliners. I have had both Ford and Chevy spray ins. After looking at these things up close, I always felt like it was a drop in but was just glued.

I would spend some time in the seats of the new SLE before spending the money on leather for them. The SLE base seats are different from the bucket seats. I wanted cloth seats, but for me the SLE base seats were uncomfortable almost immediately.

My truck was built 3/24, spray in bed liner was done 3/26 and at the rail yard in Flint on 3/29. As of today it is at the local rail yard waiting to be unloaded. Current ETA at the dealer is 4/12 and they are talking about picking it up themselves as soon as it is unloaded.

The company that does the spray in bed liner is Ground Effects LTD.

My 2015 has the factory spray in bed liner and have no complaints about it.

The delivery is under contract with GM, the dealer has no right to the vehicle, until its delivered to their door and signed off, its the property of GM under contract with the shippers. When the trucking companies were on strike years ago the manf. had to sue them in court to get access to vehicles in the trucking companies possession and that dragged out for a long time. They have the vehicle, they are paid to deliver it and are not going to let the dealer take their jobs away.

If you are referencing my post, the dealer pays the shipping company to pick the vehicle up themselves. They also can’t just show up to pick the vehicle up, they have to contact all parties involved and get approval before running to the rail yard to pick it up.

I was asked yesterday if I had a preference if the trucking company brought it to them or if I would like them to see if they can pick it up since they where headed there to pick up a Yukon, I told them I had no preference and have waited this long for it, what is another couple days. So I left the ball in the court on how they would like to handle this.

I think I got super lucky then... My 2021 2500HD Z71 was delivered by rail to a huge drop yard about 25mi away from my dealer. My sales guy knew someone at the drop yard, and had him drive it over - THE SAME DAY - rather than waiting on a car carrier load. You think my salesman was tired of talking to me?? ; )
