Recent 2020 Sierra blown engine (6.2 valve springs), need advice. 2019-2021 6.2L — How many of you are loving your truck?

I did like the GX460, it was a very nice and rugged vehicle, I often thought of lifting it and making it an off road beast but that wouldn't have worked for my job since it was my Daily Driver. I got rid of it for the Q7, I ordered it before they were out to the public in the US, it was a nice vehicle, packed with technology and drove fantastic and was the quietest vehicle that I had ever been in but it just wasn't me, 2 years later, 17,000 miles I traded it in on my HC, no regrets, the HC fits me and my needs much better than the others, nice for my job and nice to to work with as well.

I've had my 2019 6.2L with Max Trailering for 16 months now and have had zero problems, other than the infamous leaking rear window.  The truck has been to 11 states, 2 provinces and one territory and has towed trailers for several thousand miles without a hiccup.  I'm at 22k miles right now.

2020 AT4 here with allllllmost 15,000 miles. Bought it new back in November of 2019. Only issue has been the leaking rear window and just recently got it back and for now it's fixed. This wouldn't be a deal breaker for me as I LOVE this truck. The exterior styling is, for me, phenomenal. The interior has great bells and whistles as I bought it fully loaded and my previous ride was a 2010 Wrangler. I'd definitely buy this truck again in a heart beat!

Hold on here. A September 2020 built 6.2 that's out of the valve spring TSB time frame? I have a bunch of concerns here. First, the valve spring TSB was extended to October 7th built trucks. The dealer and GM should be taking care of this. Second, you're still in your bumper to bumper warranty. Again, there's no reason GM shouldn't be handling this. Imo, there's no reason to lemon law your truck. GM has an obligation to fix your truck under warranty, and they've admitted to this issue. My truck was built in June 2020, so this is something I'm paying attention to. I have almost 10,000 miles on my truck, so I've dodged a bullet so far.

Sorry for confusion. Current truck is inside valve spring dates (confirmed valve spring engine failure). For replacement, would be sure to find one outside time frame. Truck is, of course, under warranty. Lemon laws vary by state, and I'm not a lawyer. The options available depend on a lot of factors, which depend on the state and the repair history of a specific vehicle.

GM does a lot of things that irritate me. I'm dealing with one issue right now, but that's aside from this thread (nothing wrong with my truck so far). But, I've seen things with other companies that continue to put me in GM vehicles. We all have our reasons, right? With that said, I don't regret purchasing my 2020 Trail Boss LT with the 6.2. There are things I would probably do different, such as buy the AT4 instead because of some features, but I love this truck. I hope it lasts at least 20 years. I typically wait for 3rd model year vehicles, which a 2021 would be, but word was the new interior was going to be released then making 2020 the final year of the current interior. COVID allegedly pushed that back to 2022, so there's now MY2021 with column shifters. And, the updated interior is suppose to bring a whole electrical architecture that debuted on the new Tahoe and Suburbans. I didn't want to take the risk of all the new stuff that was allegedly coming in 2021, now 2022. The current wiring is complex, but workable for noobs like me. Being able to work on my truck is important to me.

I'm 7000 miles in with my 6.2. I really, really love this truck. It's within the valve spring timeline but I haven't had an issue. I'd say I'm enough miles in to quit worrying about it. I haven't had the window leak, either. But I also haven't opened the rear slider the first time yet since I knew about this issue before purchasing haha. 

 

I'm really impressed with the 6.2/10spd combo. Nothing this big should be this fun. It just drives excellent and gets the same mileage as my K2 with the 5.3. My only complaint is the loud Goodyear tires it came with. Makes the truck louder on the highway than my K2 was even though I know it shouldn't be.

My 6.2 let go at 197 miles back in August.  Since the repair I've only added about 2500 miles to the odometer and no problems so far.  We haven't really had winter here in hampton roads so I've been able to drive the Challenger more.  It is definitely a concern.  My gut feeling is that when I'm ready to put the new whipple on it I'll have the remaining valve springs replaced as well.  Really hate the lack of tune select on these trucks.  The ride is perfect.  Power is on point (needs a little more).  The update ran well.

I got my at Priority Chevy in Chesapeake. You? With their engines for life warranty, if you bought there your set regardless of when the valve springs break.

I left Hampton Roads in August. Not one of my favorite places in the country, and I hope to never return.

I am not impressed at all with my 2021.  Bought sight unseen.  Bed is not properly aligned (I guess no one even inspects these trucks as they come off the line) and also have engine noise that sounds like an exhaust leak at 1k-1.5k rpm under load.

Well that wasn’t wise to buy it that way. We live and learn. It’s under warranty.  See if they can align it properly for you at their collision center. 
 

I’d never buy a truck sight unseen!  I didn’t even buy my boat sight unseen. I drove 14 hours to look at it and then purchased it after looking it over. Salesman couldn’t believe I drove that far for it.

Yea first time.  Live and learn.  The lifter sound may be normal not sure but I can't believe these leave the factory without at least a visual inspection.  I had the bed centered but the service dept didn't think it could be leveled with the body lines of the cab.

Ya. I noticed on my 2019 the box and the cab is off about an 8th of an inch. I understand frustration there. It’s not super noticeable except when you look in driver side mirror down the body line.  Then it sticks out like a sore thumb

 

ya. I think it’s let’s get them out the door ASAP to get sold. Fit and finish anymore on a lot of things is sad. My freezer I have in my garage. It was built in the 60s. That beast is still running strong and seals tight every time I close it. My new fridge was a joke and washer and dryer too. Didn’t last five years.
