RE: Truck Weights - Missing Sticker

Hi, 

 

I own a 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE Double Cab 4WD 5.3L V8 w/3.42 rear axle ratio.  I am interested in towing a travel trailer.  After reading about axle weights, vehicle weights, hitch weights and so on I found that I should have two labels on my drivers door.

One is the Tire Loading Information (tire size & maximum air pressure along with the maximum cargo weight) and the other is Certification Tire Label (truck load limits such as curb weight, axle weight. and so on), sometimes called the Federal Compliance Label (yellow sticker). 

 

I have the Tire Load Information with maximum passenger/cargo weight at 1726 pounds but nothing that gives me any vehicle weights.  If anyone knows where I should look, write, or call to obtain this information, I would appreciate it.  My dealership was of no help. 

 

Please, see attached pictures of what I have with information verses a copy of what is missing.

Here's the sticker off my 18 Double cab 5.3 3.42 6 spd.

Same truck but mine came with 17" wheels my payload says 1749. I swapped the 17" wheels to 20" wheels when I bought it new.

What are you looking at getting for a TT?

I have a 25' Keystone Hornet around 5000 dry. 6200 loaded.

It pulls it just fine on flat roads windless days.

Add in some wind and all the sudden it's down on power and gears. Add in some grades with the wind and your spinning at 3500-4000 rpm to maintain 55 mph and getting 6 mpg. I'm not trying to tell you what to look at but for me this is the max for that truck. I can't imagine pulling 8000-9000

 

In the pic of the truck, I was loaded to the max ( overweight) with my daughters belongings. I was moving her from MN to Wyoming. Here's the weigh ticket from the truck stop scale.

Yes, I did have the discussion in past.  I want to say I was given quite a few leads, and unfortunately nothing panned out.  The place I did contact through GM stated it was not their problem that the sticker was not fixed to truck but would charge me $$$ for a new to be sent and blamed the problem of it missing on dealership.  So here I am again.  Sorry! 

How do I prove dealership removed sticker and why pay for something that should have come with truck originally.  I did request and get the buildout on my truck through dealership by VIN (no weights listed).    

Not upset over fact, just need a new direction to get this  information.    Then I will ask, are vehicles suppose to have both these stickers?

Why is the sticker so important?
Use mine its the same
3950 each axle.
You have the payload number 1726.
That's the total of all the weight you add to the truck.
Out of the gate I'll tell you that trailer is too heavy for your truck.
7500 dry . 9500+ GVW.
Nobody goes camping dry.
At minimum it's going to be 8000 probably closer to 8500. So 12% of that is around 1000 That's your tongue weight.
The hitch you need for that is another 65-75 lbs. So add that to the tongue weight. Your already at 1075 and you haven't put anything in the truck . You have to count you and your passengers and anything else in the truck. Your too heavy. Not to mention that trailer weighs over 4 tons and is 34 ft long.

OK!  Thank-you!  I appreciate the answer.  More than I knew or had before.  After you posted the information on my prior posting from a few months ago, I noticed there were responses that I never did see. 

They gave me some guidance as well.  As stated the RV places will tell you anything, just to sell the travel trailer.  Well back to the drawing board, appreciate the input.

Same situation. I have a 2015 GMC Sierra Denali 3500 Duramax (8 ft bed, SRW) and I do not have the "sticker" on the door jam with all the weights, limits, etc. Does anyone out there have this same make/model with a sticker they can share? Seems VERY odd to me that a truck would roll off the line without this.
