So I debaged the truck

Recommended Posts

Spent the last weekend (probably the last warm-ish weekend until spring) debadging the Tahoe.

Sides came off so easily! two strips of double sided tape held the long black (cheap lookin) trim pieces, and this thick black foam adhesive on the TAHOE symbols that was more difficult to take off. a little goo gone on the black foamy adhesive made it all kind of stick together and peeled off easier instead of little chunks.

However... the back is a problem. The TAHOE and CHEVROLET badges came off clean, but left a sort of bevel in the paint. it's maybe a half a millimeter deep into the paint, and it's hardly noticeable on the Pewter paint unless the light hits it right when you're within a few feet.

Of course I need it perfect ;) Anyone have tips on how to correct these "dents"?

My ideas are:

1. Buff the crap out of it with a 4k rpm orbital and a ton of Zymol.

2. Mask off the area and wet sand/clearcoat until it's level with the rest of the paint and then try to make it level.

3. Repaint the entire tailgate

Not sure if #1 will work...

#2 seems do-able, but anyone have any experience with this? I'm worried it'll just end up looking worse.

#3 is the costly decision

Thanks in advance!
