Knock/Tick sound from passenger side - 2018 Silverado

Truck Specifications:

2018 Silverado

LTZ

6.2 Motor

27K miles

Rebuilt title: interior fire damage to left passenger seat, no external damage, only passenger seat and door panel replaced.

Warranty: 3RD Party warranty

**I randomly get a tick/tapping sound from the passenger side of the vehicle. I've taken it to the dealer multiple times, haven't been able to reproduce it and said everything is in normal operating condition. Took it to a muffler shop looking for any issues with the manifold and was told that everything is all good. Just doesn't sound normal whatsoever, has anyone had this noise or any idea. Please let me know, not sure what to do since it doesn't do it consistently. Videos are attached.

I would say its lifter tick. But really it could be the high pressure fuel pump or the vacuum pump. Send that video to the service manager and tell him you want that crap fixed!

Or put headers on. There will be so much ticking you wont know whats what and it wont bother you anymore.

Thank you for the response! I forgot to mention in the first post. When the dealer had the vehicle they it was the high pressure fuel pump and vacuum pump activating.

1. If that's correct why don't I hear it more often?

2. I'm not sure if the loud noise ever produced while the dealer had the vehicle.

Any thoughts if its the fuel pump or vacuum pump? Just doesn't sound like that noise would be standard in my opinion?

The closer the part is to failing the more consistent/louder it will be. It's sad but true that they purposely don't replace parts until they consider them to be bad (about to fail).

Lol that’s a lifter tick if I’ve ever heard one

And I have

I do this for a living

You gonna be having lifters replaced one day

But if they aren’t locked or whatever there’s nothing you can do. If it were mine...I’d just wait until they fail there’s nothing more to do. Could be another 80k until you have an issue honestly.

So is this something I just wait for it to be consistent. It’s happened roughly 5 or 6 times since august. Is their an oil additive to try?

Just wait for it to lock up and bend a pushrod
Then I get paid to fix it
You can add a mason jar full of diesel fuel if you don’t want to listen to it anymore but I’d just let it ride.

The ticking at times will sound almost normal at idle, but when I rev the RPM’s up the ticking will increase in sound. If it’s a lifter, will the sound increase with rpms going up?
