H2 wheels with 4" Rancho lift ???

Recommended Posts

Getting ready to buy set of factory takeoff H2 wheels and tires(315/70/17) and need to know if the wheels will fit 2002 2500HD 4x4 with 4" Rancho kit. It looks like it will be real close to hitting the top of the spindle. I'm pretty sure the wheel has 5" backspacing with 20 positive offset

I too am curious as well, I have heard/read on another forum that a shop installed the H2 wheels with a RCD kit, which is very similar to the Rancho. The one good factor you've got going for you is the fact that they are 17" wheels, please let me know if you go this route, as I currently have the H2 wheels and am going to add the Front part of the Rancho kit in the spring.

does anyone know if these wheels fit on an un-modified 2500HD? I'm looking to put bigger rubber on my '02 so I'll need to replace the factory rims. I'm assuming I would have to trim the air-dam a little, but is there more to using these rims than that?

thanks for any info...

:D:seeya: FYI They don't fit. Tried on the front and they hit the spindle big time. On the lift they mount just fine with about an inch of room between tire and the top knuckle area of the spindle, but when you put any weight on it hits against the tire. I'm still going to use the tires (315/70/17) but on an aftermarket rim with less backspacing, something like 3 inches.

 I too am confused on how they fit when unweighted, but once the weight of the truck is applied they hit......not that I don't believe you(you have first hand info) just confused. Though they will fit on a RCD 6" kit which makes it even more confusing since the RCD and Rancho kits are near identical twins :seeya:

Got that info off of FSC.com by a member whom installs lifts..hmmm? something ain't right. :D

they will fit on the fabtech lifts, both the 6 and 8" kits. I have run the factory wheels and tires on both of these kits. there is about 3" of clearance. the only draw back is the knuckle pushes out the wheel a little bit further than the rancho and rcd, about 1/2" on each side

good luck

The H2 wheels have 5.5 inches of backspacing, which Rancho claims is to much, they say the max is 4.5 inches. The wheels and tires mounted fine on the lift so I was very glad to see that they fit, but when I lowered the truck down, the spindle hit the tire big time. At first I thought it was because of the differance in tire height between left and right front, so I jacked both sides up and mounted both fronts. Once again once the truck got weight on the tires both spindles rubbed. I agree you guys on the fact that the spindles don't move. I don't know why with this setup it did that, when I put the old wheels (16x10) back on the spindle did not appear to move like it did with the H2. I'm still going to use that tire(315/70/17) just on a different rim.
