Yea that’s ok lol if your under warranty and don’t have a problem waiting at dealership for them to replace the spring or a new motor. Or better yet it does it when your just off warranty spring breaks valve drops into cylinder. Then you got big $ problems. Hope that doesn’t happen to anyone. Also I do agree with you it seemed older programming would upshift quicker when you let off to achieve better gas mileage and that would be annoying if it was to quickly too. So from what I’ve read just be happy with way my truck is and enjoy it because if updated could only make things worse possibly.

Picked up my 21 TB with the 6.2 last monday...drove it home. 3 days later at 240 miles the valve spring broke. The local dealership fixed it very quickly but needless to say I was a tad bit upset. Hopefully that's all that happens.

Mines been rock solid so far. 7/2020 build I was hoping gm had this worked out by now too. It’s the vendors I think that are providing the part I’m thinking are subpar. I think I read or heard that gm replaces the whole bank on the side that broke.

I'm not sure. I just checked my build sheet. Although I knew in the past it was mainly the 6.2s that were experiencing valve spring issues. But I hadn't saw the specific RPO codes listed until now.

Actually I just searched really quick, the L-82 AND L-84 appear to be newer than the L-83 and both are 5.3 However the L-82 was put into the 2019+ Silverado, Sierra. Perhaps 2020+ Yukon, Tahoe, Suburban since they share the same redesign styling too? Also it seems as though the L-82 has active fuel management and L-84 has dynamic fuel management, which is capable of operating on only 2 cylinders. Active fuel management only switched between 4 and 8, or 4 and 6 if you had a V6 4.3 liter.

L-83 was the 5.3 used pre-2019 for trucks and pre-2020 for SUVs.

The L8T is a 6.6 liter.

The L-82 5.3 was used in the 2019+ Silverado and Sierra with the 8 speed transmission and active fuel management.

The L-84 5.3 was used in the 2019+ Silverado and Sierra with 10 speed transmission and dynamic fuel management.

It would be my best guess that the L84 5.3 is the engine used in 2020+ Yukon, Tahoe, and Suburban.

I have a 5.3 with 10 speed so I guess mine is a L-84. And it was built right in the middle of the dates reported

Mine is a 2020 Sierra AT4

According to GM Authority you should based on their application chart.

Dynamic fuel management has 17 cylinder patterns whereas active fuel management has 2. DFM operates on less than 8 cylinders 9% more often than AFM according to their press release from May of 2018.
