2015 Sierra LED headlights bulb replacement help....

Recommended Posts

Replacing stock halogen headlamps with led's is against federal law. Just so you know. I put Diode Dynamics in my 2014 Sierra and love them. I recently got a recall letter from Diode Dynamics stating that they are illegal and they will replace them with standard halogen bulbs for free. LOL  I am not removing/returning them.

HID/LED are perfectly fine if aligned properly in a projector housing. The problem is people put HID's inside halogen housings which scatters the light distribution into space blinding everyone in their path. I run the Hylux 45W ballasts/Morimoto HID bulbs in my 14 and I've never had anyone flash their brights at me, even leveled on 33's. I do wish I upgraded to FX-R projectors when I cleared my corners though, shaper cutoff line and a better output distribution.

I guess the government is cracking down according to the recall letter. Neither Hid's or Led's can now be put in place of the stock type factory bulbs unless Led's or HID's were stock in the vehicle from the factory or unless for off road use. Granted the Diode Dynamics bulbs you have to adjust prior to installation to put out the same beam pattern as the stock halogen in the projector housing. I never have anyone flash their lights at me either so i am keeping them in.

Wow, I had no idea. It will be interesting if they actually start enforcing this in the future. I think we would be okay since we have projectors.

I wouldn't be opposed to having a fine for people who put 55w HID's in their 95 silverado halogen housing blinding everyone on the road, this is one of my biggest pet peeves ?

Exactly, projectors are just fine for LED or HID.
