Westers tune on a Chevy 6.0

Have any of you had Westers do a 87 octane program for your 6.0? Did it make much of a difference in towing in hills and staying in overdrive without shifting on regular hills and such? I know that going to 91 or 93 will make a big difference but I just cant put that much fuel with the kind of miles I drive. I would rather go diesel than 91-93 and I dont want diesel.

Just looking for a little more oomph up the mountains.

Someone told me a NOX would help in short spurts going up steep inclines, anyone heard of that?

Thanks guys.

Just curious....does anyone have any figures to back up their claims??

Also, what was the price of the two items indicated?

Someone did some 0-60 runs on here and posted their times with the stock PCM and the Westers Garage PCM. I don't remember who it was, but the numbers pretty much shaved close to a second off their run.

The "seat of the pants" won't notice anything less than a 10 HP gain, and my dyno is telling me that I gained more than that!!!

I also picked up close to 1 MPG.

The truck runs out better and the upshifts and downshifts are great!!!

Anyone have the 89-91 tune and run 87 sometimes? How does it sound and run? Can you tune it for 91 but have a programmer to change the octane when you want it to really go?

Thanks and sorry for all the questions.

That was me. I dont think anyone has actual dyno numbers. But my ass-o-meter is pretty accurate.:D Anyway, here is my thread of when I ran my own little test. These were with a Predator tune and the Westers. NOT THE STOCK TUNE. So if you go from stock to the Westers. :D:thumbs: I bet your grin will be from ear to ear for days.

Thanks, guys. I know my question was a little argumentative, but I have heard people in the past state that they gained 50hp from adding roach poison to the gas, or other such garbage. It sounds like this may be worth the $$.

I mean, if you can't trust a Chevy driver, who can you trust.

I just put in an 87 octane tune in my 6.0 I've had it in for about 10 days and will agree the truck runs smoother and a little quicker. In a 5500lb. Yukon XL it takes a lot of added power to see a difference. I haven't noticed the improved gas mileage claimed by others. Maybe more time will help.

If I did it again, I would probably go for a higher tune to see a bigger difference.

My Sierra Denali with a 6.0 ran 16.1 stock, with only a drop in K&N, installed a Wester's 87 octane tune and ran a 15.7. Power is addictive and I ordered the 93 octane tune. With no other changes, just the same K&N drop in I ran a 15.3. With both these tunes I got a 1-2 increase in my around town mileage and as much as 4 mpg on the highway. Shifting and Low end torque is much improved and the truck feels like I put a big block in it!
