Vinyl Match for Pacific Blue Metallic?

Recommended Posts

I am looking to wrap the mirror caps, fog light surrounds and grille surround on my 2021 Pacific Blue Metallic Denali 1500. Does anyone know what the color/name/part no. would be of a vinyl that matches the Pacific Blue color? I don't expect an exact match, but has anyone found one that's very close? I'm new to wrapping, so if you also had input on the best brand/type of vinyl to buy for this application that input would be much appreciated as well!

Thank you for the help.

I think your best bet is going to be finding a color that compliments the pacific blue well, finding something in vinyl that's going to match not just the color, but the metallic flake and the gloss is probably going to be nearly impossible. I was in the same boat as you, 2020 pacific blue. looked online at all the GMC accessories in several colors for direct swap out parts, but not in this color. I ended up buying new mirror caps and door handles and having a body shop paint them body color for me. I paid way more than I would have if GMC would sell the parts in this color ready to go. but I hate chrome that much it was worth it to me. one advantage of going this way, even with factory painted door handles the little lock/unlock button is always chrome...mine is pacific blue ?

I used a metallic gunmetal plastidip treatment on the front end of my truck, grill, fog surrounds, and the lower insert. I took the recovery hooks off and left them off. I'm not sure if this is my final design but its great for now. I actually want at least the grill surround to be body color eventually, but I'm not sure if it would really look right with everything body color up front. I will need to gimp it and how it looks.

I did vinyl wrap on the chrome window surround and deleted all of the factory badges (except for the GMC up front, which I plastidipped over, so its still there, you can see it, but it doesn't scream at you anymore. I also did vinyl wrap on the engine badge with a custom insert, but later redid that in the same plastidip so it matches the front. New wheels and matching lug nuts and the only chrome left on the exterior of my truck at all are the exhaust tips, which are going to go as soon as I get the extender piece from Borla then my dechromed Borla tips go on.

Do you have a picture with everything you have done. I would like to see how it turned out.

ok, as long as you don't mind it being so dirty...rain!

I like the look, I wish I had gone a little lighter on the wheels and plastidip. they do match pretty well though, the wheels are powder coated. The red Brembo brakes will make the wheels look better also, one was damaged during installation so I'm waiting to get it back.

if anyone is not as opposed to chrome as I am and wants any of these parts I have most of the stuff taken off for sale. most of it was removed with less than 1000 miles on the truck. I've got the mirror caps, door handles (not just the chrome caps, but the whole handle replacement) and stock 22" wheels with OEM tires and OEM lug nuts plus the stock lock nuts for sale. once I get the Brembos back on I will sell the stock brakes also, everything except the rear rotors which aren't replaced with the Brembo kit. oh and the stock exhaust tips once I get the Borla installed.

I've also got the stowable grab handle from the bed that I would sell. stock radio antenna, I think I'd be willing to sell any of the stock badges even, most of them were on the truck and was removed, but I have one set of chrome Denali lettering which has never been installed. it was missing from my truck when I bought it and the dealer had it for me afterwards, I asked them to just give it to me and not install it, since I'd take it right back off anyway. Message me if anyone is interested in any of it.

Looks good. Does the plasti dip hold up well with car washes?

It has so far. I've washed it a few times. I haven't used any automatic washes though nor have I used a pressure washer on it. supposedly it can even survive pressure washers as long as the pressure isn't too high.

I also saw this one tip online that turtle wax ice spray wax works well on plastidip and helps to protect it. Who knows, but I tried it anyway. so far no problems.

doing the grill was the hardest part. you don't want that stuff all over your radiator. there isn't much room but I removed the plastic trim piece above the radiator under the hood and was able to work a cover cloth in behind the grill and in front of the shutters. there's lots of room between the shutters and the radiator, but I didn't want the coating on the shutters either. so that took some time to properly mask everything. but after that the process went pretty smoothly. I did a total of about 7 coats of black and 2 of gunmetal metalizer on top of that.

Can I ask... why the SS logos?

To honor my last truck. Miss it! Wish i could have kept both. Projects are allowed to have codenames, Denali SS, i like the sound of that. much of what i am working on for mods is to get it set up as much like my old ss as i can.  picked fhe same color, getting rid of the chrome etc. So thats what i decided to call it.
