Getting notified of text messages on a phone connected via bluetooth

I have not been able to get this to work on my 2020 TB.   I swear I have seen this work on my brother in laws 2016 Silverado.  Did they take away the ability to get notified of text messages due to safety reasons?  It will sort of half ass work with Android Auto.

I don’t get them unless directly connected to Apple CarPlay.

That is lame.

They took it away with the T series trucks. The justification I saw was that everyone uses CarPlay anyway, so there was no reason for them to support it. Which is understandable, but they could at least fix the volume issues when you connect to CarPlay.

Early T1 trucks had it, they took it away mid year production somewhere.

I purchased my truck in February of this year and I had it briefly before it disappeared.

Seeing as how Android Auto is so unstable for me right now with my SamSung S7, basically the only way I can get texts is to look at my phone.
