Ticking In Steering Column

2015 GMC Sierra with 68k miles, and my steering column has developed an annoying ticking sound. It isn’t present if I’m stopped just turning the wheel back and forth, but while I’m traveling down the road. Not necessarily when I’m turning the wheel either. Any initial ideas before I start pulling things apart?

Traced it to the intermediate shaft. It’s when the steering moves from a rest position, the intermediate shaft clicks. Tried spraying with fluid film, but may have to remove and grease the connections.

If it's a tick under load that sounds like marbles in a can, It's the steering shaft boot. there is a TSB for 2017 and newer vehicles

Unfortunately, already took care of that issue. Filled the steering boot with white lithium grease. This noise is coming from the footwell area where the intermediate steering shaft connects to the steering wheel side.
