You guys think 2022 model 6.6 GAS will get the 10A?

I really like this motor and would consider one over a half ton within next 6-8 months when I'm due for a new truck

Was wondering if you guys think that for 2022 MY , GM will pair it with the 10A? Super disappointed it was not to begin with but I get money makes every decision.

The Allison branded one (10L1000) is capable approximately double the torque of the 6.6 gasser.

If the gasser gets a 10 speed, I'd guess it won't be the one that's behind the 6.6 Dmax.

Hard to say. The 6.6L is the standard engine on 2500HD's and is included in the base price. Ford only offers the 7.3 L engine as an extra cost option and includes the 10 speed trans with it. If the 10 speed does become available, I'd look for it to be an extra cost option as well.

I also doubt it would be standard. From my point of view I like the 6 speed be it crude and have its normal gm 6 speed issues it is rock solid and the other 2 I have had were trouble free for 250k plus miles.

This is a very good point actually. Cause the base Super Duty gets 6.2 and 6 speed . The 7.3/10A comes with added price tag , vs GM in which you get 6.6 as base and only engine

They freaking better or I will get a 7.3 Ford with their A10.

10L90 has no excuse to not be behind the 6.6 and they can even keep the 3.73 gearing as well as it would work great with it.

Good question. For me the L8T 6.6L/6L90 drivetrain would be fine. I particularly like the fact that the 6L90 is a proven reliable transmission that shifts well and is not 'busy' like a lot of 10 speeds. Have not heard anything bad about the Allison 10 speed, but on 'Ford-Trucks.com' there are a lot of negative comments and experiences with the Ford HD 10 speed, particularly with the 7.3L gas.

6 speed is a tried and true Trans..I Agree 100% but the 10 speed is 10 times better . Better shifts/better acceleration and should help fuel economy by a tad ..Also the 10 speed does not hunt for gears. I have drive Ford 10 speeds and Gm speeds in different vehicles and trucks and its a great trans. When cruising it has the skip shift feature .

Ford the record, the 10 sped automatics in the GM 1500's are similar to the 10 speeds in the F-150. Those were the jointly developed RWD 10 speed automatics. The 10 speed HD Torq-Shift for use in the Super Duty is a 'scale up' of the joint venture 10 speed, similar design but larger for increased capacity. The 10 speed Allison 10L1000 is not related to the joint venture transmissions or the 10 speed Torq-Shift. GM did that one themselves with help from Allison.

Notice that the base model F-250 Super Duty still uses the 6.2L gas V-8 with the old 6 speed automatic from the F-150 (named Torq-Shift G). For that reason I think that GM may want to keep the 6L90 behind the L8T as the base HD powertrain to keep the price down for fleets. Offering the Allison 10 speed as an option with the L8T may make some non-commercial customers happy if it comes with better performance and economy. Also some have pointed out that the 7.3L is the optional gas engine in the Super Duty, while GM does not offer a larger gas engine as an option. There were rumors of a larger gas engine for commercial trucks, perhaps something is coming for the HD pickups as well. If so, I think it would be a sure thing that a larger gas engine would come with the Allison 10 speed.

6 speed and the old 4:10 gears would have been nice.

3:73's and the 10 speed makes scene.

Knowing Gm you will get the 10 speed but the rear will 3:23 with no options. My buddy has a F150 4x4 5.0 10 speed with 3:73 gears and that thing feels like it has more torque than my 6.2. His truck rips. I wish i could have ordered my 6.2 with at least 3:73 but i would like 4:10. He is also averaging 18 mpg mixes highway and around town.
