10 speed seems to have a lot of torque management

Recommended Posts

So the dealership got a 21 RST 6.2 and of course 10 speed.  I took it out for a drive and the truck seems to drive great, seemed lighter than my 18 6.2 8 speed (and definitely not as good looking). Both have 3.23 gears. So of course I got on it a few times and the 21 did show some signs of being 500 lbs lighter.  My truck will squawk the tires a bit and pull hard when launching hard in 4wd.  The 21 did not squawk the tires, however once moving pulled real hard, harder than mine.  It was in sport mode with TC off.  It was fun beating on this truck a bit.  It’s speed limiter was 110ish.  This particular RST stickered for a little over a grand more than my 18 loaded LTZ Redline.  58? vs 57?  Don’t hate on me beating on this new truck.  It’s one I suggested ordering to the dealership gm for me. I’m getting this truck next week.

I test drive like I drive aggressive. Performance is a big part of my purchase.

I will say my first drive impression of the 6.2 / 10 was not mind blowing. It takes awhile for it to loosen up. Also, dealer filled it up with regular which probably hurt a tiny bit.

As of now I can say I don’t notice any torque management and it’s a total beast. There’s a little chirp launching in 4WD, then it hooks hard and wants to yank the steering wheel around.

I can light up my rear tires on mine easily, many times not even trying [emoji2373] my 2020 vs 2010 6.2 is like night and day power wise. Also sport mode is fun too [emoji16]

The 21 would light up the rears, in 2wd.  I didn’t beat on it too much though.  It just seemed a little held back, esp based on how hard it pulled once moving. My 18 would break all 4 or 3 loose for a second or so.   The 18 will obliterate the rears if I’d let it, the 21 not as much.   It’s brand new though, it should loosen up.  And once moving, both truck have some sweet spots at different speeds for accelerating, but the 21 definitely had more.  The 21 is a little funnier to drive, even though it is ugly.

I made sure they put premium in it.  I kinda knew I was getting the truck.
