Mobil1 new oil filter?

Don't worry I learned as a yout to set my goals low to avoid disappointment!  I look under my throttle body frequently and look there it is.....Won't be long and I will be taking a peek at the screen!  I mean 124k and you know it's showing her age...rough idle, sputtering and where is the oil going thing?  Must be a Frankenchrist engine I have.  Good luck with yours!  MOOK

I’m for vehicle longevity to a point. Some have said 1000000 miles is the goal. Do the math on that. I loved driving the factory hot rods I’ve owned up until my 06 trailblazer ss. Fun as it was I wouldn’t trade a new one for my wife’s Genesis. Same performance more refinement. Ten years no issues. More than my money’s worth. Do I want to be driving it in ten more years? Hell no. My wife’s 20 years old Acura and my 20 year old 178K mile truck all on factory oil and filters. The truck and Genesis that’s just out of warranty will go Amsoil products and extended. I have no doubt the engines will be running when there’re not worth driving. Non Frankenstein engines.

yes...Boss is at 25 micros...while the ONE is at 20 micros...again...i have no idea what that means in real world scenarios, but i do know that 99% at 20 micros is better than 99% at 25 micros...sorry...had a lot of research i was sifting through in my mind (the video you pulled was one of the resources i came across)...

And K&N is still 10-12 microns...  Really though, all of our engines would do just fine with FRAM filters if needs be!  LOL

It's just fun to get into the minutia or stitch counting or rivet counting as they call it...

pardon my skepticisms without proof...do you have a link or data to support your claim?  that is a bold claim of which i have plenty support that is not a true statement...at best they are 25...but again...i am willing to concede if you have actual proof...

filter specs have been published so many times my keyboard is worn out.  A few times in this tread alone!

i literally went through this entire thread and you never mentioned ANYTHING about K&N oil filter...you want to reread your statement?  there was only one person who brought K&N up and that is the same person who liked your comment and claimed they filter at 99% 10-12 microns without any proof...so you can tell your friend txab to go beat his own deadhorse...

if there was a link that i missed...by all means, feel free to point me in that direction...

You took my statement to literally. My bad for being unclear. Look.....everyone has a pet when it comes to these sorts of things and as my mother use to say, "Each ole crow thinks hers the blackest". I linked you to the Practical Lubrication and Filtration thread where you have an assortment that represent the best to about mid pack and enough explanation to figure out the rest.

The only number I have any interest in is the micron size captured at the Beta 75 value (98.7%). Why that number? Because that is the value the wear testing done by GM was done at. That isn't an easy number to get without allot of emails and phone calls and some relationship building. This isn't Google territory sir. I use the information to help people to learn to fish; then they stand there with hat in hand asking me to feed them again. OR call me a liar based on some marketing crap on a box.

I don't have the K&N numbers. If you want them petition them personally. My comment is a comment on the weariness of doing other peoples leg work for them.

Purolator Pure One PL22500 > 5 micron at a Beta of 75

Now find that 5 mic number on the graph below and ask me why I would continue to look for a lower value. I didn't look for the K&N because it was pointless. Read me?

All of this is the LINK PROVIDED EARLIER.

A little added humor is painless. The mod does his policing to keep things sane. Some people just search the internet and simply post their findings and are treated as gospel. Then reticule people who question or disagree with their famous hash tag. Then there’s others who done real word testing and post their experience. Reminds me of the days of bench racing and real world racing. Bench racers can recite stats but never seen a track. Racers use stats as a guide and test their own. Funny though one particular web junky swears frequent OCIs can fix a bad design. All the while fretting over one of his rides extreme use of oil. Cleaning and changing brands spending a fortune. All without realizing you can’t fix a bad design with frequent OCIs. And still preaching a bad design can be overcome with X filter and Y oil. You just can’t make this stuff up.

my comment was specifically about K&N filters...and specifically about 10-12 micros claim...for whatever reason K&N filter specs are more difficult to find then the rest of the filters... and the K&N specs IS the point...READ ME?

I don’t understand why all the bickering, who cares! As a matter of fact, putting aside experienced favoritism, buy what you want! I’m sticking with my Amsoil as it’s a superior filtration, don’t care how much it costs as I didn’t buy a $60k plus truck and spend another $10k worth of lift and bunch of accessories so I can nickel and dime my maintenance parts ands supplies.

Geez, in all my years in sales and large numbers of friends and acquaintances, I’ve never experienced so many budget minded cheap asses in my life as I have in these forums. Just buy what you want, pay what you want and be happy. I don’t think bickering about 1 or 2 % filtration is worth anyone’s time. Do yourselves a favor, just buy Amsoil and you’ll never look back lol
