Mobil1 new oil filter?

Recommended Posts

combination of many sites...but you actually answered your own question...as Purolator One has 99% at 20 micros...so as i said, purolator has more filtration...again, i did not focus on flow rate, only filtration....and to repeat...i am not claiming Amsoil (or any other premium filter) is a poor filter...is 1% filtration difference noticeable?  who knows...

Amsoil claims 99% too but rated 98.7% at 20 microns which is what they all do, rounding it but I totally get what you’re saying. I’m interested in the numbers too. The oil I will NEVER stop using but I’m paying 14$ per filter, it’s extremely heavy duty but absolutely know nothing about Purolator. One thing I do know about Purolator is they’re filter manufacturers which don’t believe Amsoil is.

Purolator, it says it’s got a polymer reinforced media, looks like a great filter but flow rate is considered to be most important after filtration as you don’t want to get 50% flow rate at 3k miles while out on a road trip lol. Where’s GrumpyBear?

Even though I never go past 4-5k mile OCI’s. In layman‘s terms, flow percentage at 20-30-40- 50% full?

Thanks but I’m aware of all this, it’s on their website, I’m interested in flow rate when 50% full.

Caps for emphasis not volume, okay guys.

I have not idea about the exact flow rates at 50% loading of the Purolator One anymore that anyone knows the 50% flow rates of the AMSOIL EaO17. Why? Because these are not published numbers. Not even sure they are studied. Be a pretty hard study to do, right?

Here's what I do know. 1.) Filters are designed to remain bypass closed UP TO their rated dirt holding capacity. That part is just logical. 2.) The Ecotec3 motors two stage pump is externally regulated. That is the bypass is controlled at the END of the circuit AFTER the filter and not between filter and pump. 3.) Oil pressure is a function of viscosity, clearance and flow rate. 4.) The oil pump is a POSITIVE DISPLACEMENT pump. it WILL flow whatever volume it's speed and swept volume capacity dictates. 5.) What will happed is the pressure differential will increase over the filter at the exact same flow rate.

Put those five together and what you come to understand is that if your oil pressure is normal for the temperature then you have, the engineering designed volume of fluid going exactly where it needs to be going.

You can get 'eyes' on this by using a remote filter and measuring the pressure differential over it. When it gets to 22 psig hot at the highest flow rate (second stage on at red line) that filter is toast. You just have to find he instrument. I've never looked for one. DP cell that is.

And that is all I have on that topic. Hope you find something there useful.

Apparently, it seems that neither have wire backing which is used in Amsoil and Royal Purple in order to keep the filters rigidity especially when it’s caught a lot of dirt.

Well, my next replacement OCI oil and filters arrived. Only wish I knew WTH the flow rate is in all these filters, both say 99% at 20 microns but neither give flow rate when they’re at least at 50%. I guess we’re to assume that their marketing departments don’t like to release this information, not required which leads me to believe something is being kept from us all.

Spenpet, can you please take a pick of your pressure gauge at idle and and at normal driving so you can see the difference between before using Purolator and after? Thanks

1.) I buy Purolator One for $9 at Advanced Auto parts store. Walmart on line has them for $6.79 a piece sometimes.

2.) Order yourself a copy of SAE J806. This is the test standard. Even the oil they use has a standard. That would be SAE J1260A.

3.) AMSOIL Ea017 list $18.25. And if you have the 'club' discount. $14.20

4.) Compare the PL22500 Purolator one NOT the BOSS to the EaO17.

Asked and answered....several times. Not doing it again.

Sorry you didn't like answer.

Sorry it doesn't agree with your narrative.

Is what it is.

So you have the information for AMSOIL?

:dunno:

I thought not

:nono:

I repeat

SAE J806

More dependable than a Youtube video.

What's the long game her?

Wow, it’s lots cheaper than the Amsoil too. Just doesn’t have the supporting wire backing on either. I’m willing to give it a shot!

Well, I’m looking forward to hear the pressure results, just got these shipped to my door this afternoon, two more boxes on the way full of Amsoil goods too. 31d8fb3e0b041a94f6fb0fba149ee98f.jpg

Just restocking my Amsoil cabinets [emoji6]

Why do you buy qts when your truck takes 2 gallons?  Just order the gallons and stop messing around with individual qts.  LOL
