Long time no see,

today for my first oil change I brought up the fact that my truck sometimes shifts hard coming to a stop. Always the 2-1 shift. This was the response...

the service advisor said “there is a lawsuit in the states”.. dunno if that’s true?
Looking for opinions, will this ever go away?!

The 2-1 clunk was always present in the 8-speed.  I've had no issue, and have never seen the described issue, in the 10-speed.

Well, my 10 speed did it a couple of days ago. I've experienced the clunk in my brother's 8 speed and I can tell you In my 10 speed it was a down right violent event as compared to the 8 speed. Felt like I literally hit something. I hope this isn't a sign.

I would just confirm that they were saying the "normal characteristic" was for the 10 and not the 8.  Having driven many 8's and 10's, I would say 90% of the 8 speed trucks would clunk and can see GM saying it was a "normal characteristic."
