I really wasn't planning on buying a truck. But I ran some numbers in the inflated truck market and my trade value was what I paid for it nearly four years ago. That's a hard opportunity to pass up. So, the search began. This truck is my own personal unicorn. It took me forever to track one down with the options I wanted. They don't build many 6.2 double cabs with cloth seats and center console but I was determined to find one. I came from a 2017 LT Z71 5.3 which I really loved expect for a few quirks. The AFM and 6 speed transmission never did get along with each other. I bought the Range device and that helped some but it just never did feel right for some reason. And I was a victim of the dreaded Chevy Shake - boy what a fiasco that was. I eventually gave up and lived with it. I miss the gauge cluster from that truck and the pocket in the door where I always kept my wallet. Other than that... this new truck is better in every way.

This is my first experience with the 6.2 motor in a truck. I really wanted it last time I purchased but at the time, Chevy made you step up to the LTZ or High Country to get it and I'm not a leather guy. Plus I really prefer the look of the double cab. I have the LS3 in my Vette but I didn't know if it would make that big of a difference in a truck. Man this thing pulls hard! Coupled with the 10 speed transmission it's a dream to drive. It feels so much smaller than it is and is whisper quiet on the highway - too quiet for me. All that power needs a voice so I'll probably be investing in Borla soon. Surprisingly, I've been getting better mileage than I got in my last 5.3. I guess with the extra power the truck doesn't have to work as hard, plus the transmission is excellent. The Safety Package wasn't something I was necessarily looking for but it's already been darn handy. I also really love the new infotainment and the fact that I can view the rear and bed cameras briefly while driving.

I'm happy to to be here and I'm excited to learn more!

Congrats on the new ride! I've got a '19 variant with the 6.2 and 10spd combo, and I fully second what you say. These things have some pull for sure! Keep us up to date on the exhaust if you don't mind. I've been looking at a cheaper alternative with just a muffler swap and perhaps even a resonator delete. I don't want crazy, just some personality to it. Very interested in how your exhaust works out! Watching videos online only goes so far, ha.

Kudos on the color, too! I've got a '16 SS sedan in a similar color, and it looks great on your truck!

Thanks! Yeah I'm looking through YouTube videos as we speak haha. I thought about a cheaper option too. I LOVE the look of the quad tips out back so I'll go that route regardless. I just don't know if there's enough benefit to a full catback system to justify the price.

Love your SS, too! I came very close to buying a Slipstream Blue model before I pulled the trigger on my Vette. I'm thrilled with my Vette but the SS still temps me from time to time. It's the last of an era and such a special car.

I was in the same place you are now about 3 weeks ago. I started the process similarly... didn’t want to spend the big bucks. 3 weeks later I dropped $1300 on the GM Performance Exhaust. ?

Most of the cheaper options are going to give you cabin drone at cruise. If you can tolerate that, you’re all set. I wanted to avoid that at all costs, so I concluded that the GMPE (aka Borla Touring) system would be best for me. I also didn’t want something that barks too loudly.

That's my biggest thing I'm trying to avoid is the drone. I had an '09 with the 5.3 and a cat back exhaust that sounded great but droned like hell. I've read about some Flowmaster super 44 muffler swaps or even Flow FX that have little or no drone, but because it's all opinion based on the drone level, I haven't convinced myself to pull the trigger yet, [emoji1787]

I appreciate that! It's definitely a fun car. We got one with a 6spd and it's for sure my Sunday driver that gets babied. But, got some fall track days planned finally to stretch it's legs out and have some fun. I really wanted an older gen Z06 with the 7.0, but once we had a kiddo, the 2 door idea went away for now, haha.

I agree on the cost vs benefit to the catback systems. Not much benefit other than sound really, but man....my '09 with the 5.3 that I upgraded from....when I put that exhaust on it over 11 years ago, I don't remember it costing anywhere near what these systems do today! Makes my wallet hurt at the thought, [emoji23]

Yeah I had the GMPP exhaust on my last truck and it was definitely nice on the highway. Sometimes I wished it was a little louder under throttle though so I'm leaning toward Corsa Sport or Borla S Type. if I could get the GMPP exhaust for this 6.2 at $1300 I would probably pull the trigger this week. But their price online is $1699 before tax. I just got a bunch of My Chevrolet points from trading and I never spent my points from my last purchase. So I have enough for $200 off which is still $1500 through GM and I can get the louder S type for the same price at Summit Racing. Unless there's some discount floating around I don't know about through the dealers.

For what it's worth, I did the Super 44 swap on my 2009 Silverado 4.8 and it was absolutely miserable on the highway. The drone would run you out of the vehicle. These trucks have come a long way since then with sound deadening and resonators so it may not be as bad these days.

Yeah, I got 15% off from Chevy Accessories with a sale they ran thru September 1. Doesn’t look like it’s running any longer.

I would have bought the Borla system from Summit if I did not have that coupon, which got me the GM system for the same price.
