Favorite tonneau cover?

Recommended Posts

I am close to buying an RST, and will be in this boat shortly. On my Colorado I had an Access Lorado(6 ft bed), and It worked out for me when I bought it. Having said that- I realized that most tonneau covers in general have rails along the inside of bed, that keeps you from being able to use a bike rack across top of rails.

I know there are uber expensive ones that allow you to retract and have a bike rack within their rails, but 1500 doesn't excite me! Before I pull the trigger on another cover, I gotta research bike racks and covers a bit better.

If you go with the LoMAX, get ahold of Luke at Truck Alterations. I got mine from him for $675 shipped, which was significantly lower than anyone else I could find. This was in December 2019.

I just traded emails with Luke.  He is still at $675 with free shipping.  That is over $200 less than everyone else.  Everything good when you dealt with Luke and truckalterations.com?  Is that cover easy to remove if you need access to the entire bed?  I assume it is but would like real world experience.  :)

Yes I’ve gotten a few tonneau covers as some other truck items from him as well. All of my experiences have been great. I leaned about him through another (Ford) forum back when I had an F150.

I have the X15 Pro on mine and I love it. It sits flush and I really like the look of the fabric as opposed to the vinyl. It does leak a little at the corners but nothing serious enough for me to be too concerned with.

So my Lomax cover arrived yesterday. It was a breeze to install. Overall I’m pleased with the fit and appearance. Of course my impatience cost me a couple hundred bucks. I ordered it before the post about the vendor selling them for 660$. Oh well. Can’t worry about that now.

That's a nice clean bed cover.  Like it a lot.

Thoughts on Gator EFX vs LOMAX?  Realtruck.com has the Gator EFX for $649 vs working with the guy mentioned above at $675.  Obviously the money diff doesn't matter.  Just want a nice cover.  Thanks guys.

Actually looks like the Gator FX is the one comparable to the Lomax.

Thanks Greg, the simplicity is what attracted me to it. The seams are only about 1/4”. As far as install and removal goes, I think it will be quite easy to remove when needed.

I traded an ‘18 Tacoma for the trail boss and it had a factory Toyota tri-fold. It was heavier and had a bolt to remove. Not super hard but more to do. This one just folds up, secure the keepers, slightly lift and slide toward the rear. Nice and simple.
