2020 2500AT4 with Duramax Max Payload

Recommended Posts

Hi...just noticed the max payload decal on my side door and has a rating of 776 kg or 1709 lbs. This alarms me as I didn't look when I purchased and only went of the website with a crew cab and 6.9 box that showed 3600 lbs.  I have had an 11 , 15 , 17 and19 Chev LTZ crewcab with 6.5 box Duramax and payload was roughly the same. So, it appears I now can not legally haul 2 sleds on a Truckboss deck which will be a problem? Can anyone confirm with their own 2500 AT4 crew, std bed what the inside of the door states?   Thank you!

I’ve got the same truck with just under 3,100lbs of payload on the sticker. Checked it on the lot before I purchased it.

I believe the rules are 9900 lbs for Canada and 10000 lbs for US for commercial motor vehicle.  GM offers an an option to get around these rules for guys that use for a business.  Everything on truck and suspension is the same except the sticker on the door.

Can you post a picture of the decal?

I appreciate the feedback and to my surprise, went to the dealership and they told  e it was a mistake as they brought the truck in on a dealer trade and did not order the "commercial" spec themselves.  Thought I  was going to have a fight but for $1500, went from a 6600 km 2500 AT4 [ needed a windshield] up to a new 3500 AT4 with extras. I am glad there is a shortage of used trucks as this 2500 AT4 is headed south of the border. So,  I would have taken a 2500 without the "commercial" spec but they had none available and the ride on the 3500 seems fine. Again, thank you for the feedback and will pay better attention to the vehicle spec information next time.

What is the payload on the sticker of your 3500? Mine is just under 3900lbs?  There seems to be quite a lot of variance in payload among models based on the weight of various features and options. I was surprised that my actual payload was less than the published "generic" payload ratings.

I am surprised too as I was wanting a little bit more for future 5th wheel purchase options. We should still be all set though.

You should be good.  Any trailer with a heavier pin weight than you can legally carry would be better suited to a DRW anyway.  FWIW, my 04.5 Dodge Ram 3500 had a payload of just over 3000lbs which is in line with modern 2500s.  Where my old truck struggled at times with my 12k Arctic Fox 5th wheel, this new truck pulls it like a dream.
