Not really, you just drop it off and rag on their courtesy vehicle while you wait. But it don’t really matter to me, mine hasn’t been in over a year, and I’ve never been stranded. These trucks ain’t so bad after all.
 

Bottom line is whether you buy new or restore old, someone is always going to spend time and money to work on it.

GM needs to come out with a full-size ZR2 supercharged. But also offer a sport model that is supercharged.  Like there 03-06 S.S. trucks. I loved the looks and stance of those trucks. I’m not into lifted trucks. Keep it low to the ground and haul 5 people.  I’d buy it instantly.

And I've never replaced a power window regulator/motor.  

Lucky dude. 3 of them (2 drivers door) on a CCSB 1500, 2 on a 2500HD ECLB(each door), and 2 so far on a '14 3500HD (driver door & back passenger). Regulators/actuators on GM trucks are ******... among numerous other things... yet I keep driving them for some reason, lol!

The Silverado ZRX is coming, supposedly going to be supercharged. Like you, I would rather have a sport truck version though.

Funny that the TRX, even with 700hp, is slower to 60 than the 30 year old GMC Syclone someone posted in this thread awhile back. The off road stuff I don’t need...just eats power.

Totally agree. Lifting the truck kills its performance.  Give me the S.S.  version on 22s with a supercharger crew cab and So can fit the family and dog and I’m set. 
ya the old syclones could rip in the early 90s. They were so fast they took down a Ferrari in a car and driver comparisons.  Thing that stunk about them is they could haul more than 500 lbs. 

 

But if you had one now a days they are worth a pretty penny

Sounds like a full sized car. It would be cheaper and get better fuel mileage. Stinger comes to mind, among others. The money you save you could buy a used truck. I did just that, only with a Genesis and Avalanche.

Full-size car can’t pull my boat to my lake house! Plus there is something about a truck that hauls @$$ like a sports car that entices me.

That’s why you buy a used truck. Best of both worlds. It took me 40 years to figure it out. Sport sedan and a used truck. Spots sedan 0-60 low 5s, 27 MPG @ 78 MPH. The hot rod truck is going to cost high 50K or more. Stinger is about 20K less. That’s a pretty nice used truck.

Why have 2 to do the job of one. Then you have twice the gas to pay and twice the insurance. Doesn’t make any sense. I’ll stick with one TRUCK that hauls @$$.  Especially when you pass that Stinger and they look at you like holy $h!t!!

That wouldn’t happen. I can only drive one a a time. I’m just trying to be rational. But hey it took me 40 years. I spent a fortune building hot rod trucks. Only to have my wife’s sports sedan keep up and get great gas mileage doing it. If I wasn’t retired I’d probably already have the hot Ram ordered.

You still have to put gas in 2 vehicles whenever you choose to drive either one and you still have to insure both vehicles.  If GM comes out with this truck. You aren’t having to “build” it like your talking. It’s already a hot rod!  
 

you could always be a greater at Walmart or a used car salesman. Take that money and use it for the new Ram. Just because your retired doesn’t mean you can’t do something different that is less stressful. Keeps you young and active. 
 

I detail and give plasma on the side of my regular job. All the money I make goes to mods on my truck. I have never dipped into my savings or regular checking account in modding my vehicles.

You also have to take into effect a used truck has no warranty so on top of insurance you have basic maintenance and if something goes wrong with it you have another expense. 
I've down this with my 2018. I never drove it because I had a 1997 C/k 1500. It was a great truck but it nickled and dimed me to death. Not worth it. Been there done that.

If I lived in the south I think the two vehicle approach would be a lot more attractive. No snow, no salt. Easier to daily drive a car down there year round, and easier to find an older truck that’s still in nice condition.
 

Around here, ALL GMT-800s, and most GMT-900s are well on their way to being total rot boxes...I would not want to mess with it. And anything newer than a GMT-900 is a stone’s throw away in price from new.

 

Just simpler for me to get an all in one solution. A new truck that’s somewhat entertaining to drive.

GM needs to make simple reliable drivelines like back in the 90's . less tech, and social media crap,  I miss velour seats !  new veihles are over HP, and under Torqued.  it's a constant chainsaw  race on the local streets
