My God, I want some of what you put in your Cheerios every morning. Let me guess, E-85? ? But really though, you always have the perfect responses. Your banter and wealth of ungodly amounts of technical knowledge on the fly is something I look forward to daily now. Always gives me a good chuckle or an AH-HA moment. Or both. Okay, time to knock down that temporary pedestal.

Back on track. Not sure why anyone is knocking your motor (well, no pun intended, hope you don't have any engine knock ?). V6 option is available for a reason. Plenty of power, plenty of tow-ability, PLENTY of gas mileage, intended for anyone that DOESN'T NEED the V8 - keyword being NEED, if you don't NEED the V8 the V6 is a perfectly acceptable motor. Hell, our Rams with a V6 have plenty of tow-ability and PLENTY of gas mileage. Can't compare the Pentastar to GM's option since I've never driven a GM with a V6 but I'm sure it is comparable. My Charger I had was a V6 tuned and hitting low 11's, one time I got 10.8 in the 1/4 mile with 500 lbs of rock salt in my trunk. Pretty good for 292 HP, never dyno'd after so not sure what I was running with mods and tune so we'll just call it 300 HP even. No reason to get a V8 if you don't need a V8. I was getting 33mpg in a 4,000lb muscle car. Moot point but glad you're sticking to your guns.

Nothing wrong with a stout 6. My neighbor has a Penstar with over 200K on the clock and runs like a watch. He's buying a new truck soon but says his RCSB V6 stays as his primary transport until the wheels fall off. May be awhile as he is pretty fair at fixing most anything.

Steel sharpens steel, right? Econometrics and I are about two peas in a pod as it can get. I appreciate his wit and give grace to his opinions. Nice to banter with a fella with a vocabulary larger than a post card. This happens from time to time and was enjoyable for us both. We've exchanged PM's on this thread and be assured there is not an ounce of animosity between us.

Yep. I restored and own a '71 CB750 which is on the cover of the Clymer SOHC Four Manual. Music to my ears! Sweet sound!

Yep. Own 2 Harleys. An 80 cu in. Evo and a 103 cu in. H.O. Music to my ears! Sweet sound!

My 2 stroke bikes? Music to my ears! Sweet sound!

A G.E. F110 in an F16? Music to my ears! Sweet sound!

A V8? Music to my ears! Sweet sound! Even a loping 40's flathead V8! Sweet!

All TOTALLY diffrent sounds but what sweet goose bump sounds ?.

A V6? Nauseous and terrible... Sounds like sh*t, always has, always will.  It's the nature of the beast. It is what it is... Yep, I'd spend the extra money just to not hear that godly awful sound ?.

Well I am glad you tasted all the flavors of ice cream and is the thing with us humans, we like what we like and don't the rest. I love the sound of a Porsche, Aston Martin or Maserati V6. Granted this ain't that. RPM is to low but...it wasn't meant to be anything other that what it is. A truck motor. One so well muffled it is near impossible to hear unless matted. It's hard for me to imagine hating the sound of a thing that is unheard. Of course your hearing is likely better than so old fart like me.

Personally my play list would keep the V6 and loose the Yamer-hammer of a two stroke. The rest is rock solid.

Hey Grumpy in any case you're up to 15 followers now and climbing with this thread....?

15 eh!

214,158 current members and all I get is a stinking 15?

:crackup::rollin::crackup:

Okay, go find me some more.

:wtf:

It's hot. Everyone cooped up inside. The kids get restless and bored. So they poke a bear in a closet to see what happens. Even a sociopath will quit poking a dead thing with a stick if it just lays there. Got to move now and again and keep the kids minds off their troubles. Think of it as a public service.

Hey guys/Gals,

I am on the fence on what to own V6-I6-V8?  What you all think?

I-6 gets my vote but only if it has seven mains. Perfect 1st and 2nd order balance. Null third order. Smooth as a kittens purrrrr.

You do understand that a 4.3 is essentially a v8 gm small block with 2 cylinders chopped off right, so they sound pretty beefy for a 6 imo or at least the ones i have owned.  They are a great motor that has been around the block and back, and also now have pretty much 1/3 more horsepower and torque compared to the vortech models i had in my 89 s10 baja and 95 s10 zr2, sad to see gm letting it go imo.

I understand well what the V6 is. Chopping of 2 cylinders in a V configuration goes from a sweet sound to a bad sound.  A straight 6 doesn't sound as bad as a V6. Ever hear how terrible a V6 sounds with performance exhaust? Just saying bud.

Yes i owned two trucks with that motor and over 15 years of driving with them. One had a flowmaster and another a borla and both while not a true v-8 sound wasn't as bad as your trying to make it out to be.

My old work beater was a 2004 grand am with the 3400 V6. I put flowmaster's "camaro style" muffler (mounted sideways under the trunk) with 1 inlet and an outlet on each side, sounded pretty sweet to me, haha.

Now upgraded to a 2014 Chrysler 200 with the Pentastar 3.6 L V6. Completely stock, I can barely hear that its running. But it gets moving when I push on the tall skinny pedal.

Hell I have the 6.2 and i can barely hear it running over the clickety clack of the injectors firing lol, the stock gm exhaust is just so terrible but i just don't want to blow money on an exhaust when the one i got is fine.
