When will i need new torque converter/stall

Recommended Posts

I’ve done many mods in my lifetime. Changing my stall was way down on my list especially in a truck. Way you ask? I wanted smooth even power delivery. Hooking up is going to be a problem on the street anyway. Raising the launch RPM is just going to add to that. Now if the vehicle is on slicks and at the track that’s a consideration.

maybe not for towing.  depends on your gearing too. and no lock up used when towing otherwise your burning up clutches,  the isuzu NPR HD is probably closer to our truck stall, but i would call the isuzu dealer parts guy to confirm this. I like this converter best for towing, it only lacks Lock up clutch inside , which is why is more reliable than the stock, or the ZL1 converters.  consult with  sonnax or trans-go  before making the leap, those guys have more knowlege than anyone here or on google search

Are my eye's playing tricks or do you have a big hole in your intake duct. Looks like a part of the factory plastic housing broke off or something. Too bad you didn't have a 6.2, you left a hundred horses on the table..

Possibly consuming coolant too?

And maybe there's something going on that I cant see. But on your brothers truck, it looks like the crankcase is just pulling air from the engine bay?

I’m cammed, 12psi pulley, longtubes, methanol injection, lt4 injectors. You really don’t need a high pressure pump if you do a cam with 32% increase on fuel lobe you really just need lt1 or lt4 injectors up to 600whp after that you need to upgrade the in tank pump.

Sorry I should have read the rest of the thread before I asked the first question.  Your set up is exactly what I'm going for down to the LT4 injectors only.  What cam do you have?  I have the TSP stage 2 218/226 with 32% over fuel lobe.

It’s boosted once under boost that crankcase is pressurized, yes the valve covers on his truck are vented to atmosphere. Tuned that way with no issues what so ever, and I left 100hp on the table? Lol I still wax everything off the line by like 6-7 cars on the street just like I built it to do so.. and I can’t even get bikes to run me from a dig.. so I think my little 5.3 is doing the trick just fine. Appreciate the comment though ?

p.s. colonel sanders wrong again, no holes in that intake duct either..

p.s.s. How in the  would I be consuming coolant? Lmao

It looks low on coolant, and I can see now that there isn't a hole in your **intake** (I forgot what the stock one looks like). Sounds like your the one embarrassed about the size...... I was purposely trying to get you fired up, it was obvious you feel a little bit small. No engine size stated in your profile, constantly ignoring my questions on engine size. And when you finally answered, you came out swinging, claiming your truck is the best!

I mistakenly spelled intake wrong and had to correct it. Grammar police everywhere.

P.S. If you zoom in on the picture it does look like there's a hole. Unless you know the exact shape of stock intake housing you wouldn't know.

Well you never quoted me because you’re a coward so... and you gonna show your ride or what??? Lmao

Coward? Maybe, but not for the reasons your implying . If you want to shut someone up on forums do it with fact, not ignorant name calling.

I don't have any pictures, I don't feel the need seek praise or recognition. My truck has full exhaust, intake, tune. I would like to stroke it, but no way I can afford that. I like na engines but certainly wouldn't turn down a blower for a good price.

Back in 2014 when I was researching the blower websites for possible interest. Several of them showed only a 40HP difference between a blown 5.3 and 6.2. Funny that was the same difference between them with the 5.3 on E-85. Only leaves the conclusion that tuning and gas can make up a whole lot of difference. Probably the thinking at GM some V-8 drivers are more concerned with using regular gas. Others who buy the 6.2 don’t care. So it’s tuned to run the more expensive gas and can be tuned to.

Methanol injection makes a nice difference as well [emoji12][emoji1591]

I knew a guy that came around our shop in the 4.8-5.3 early days. He had a long bed stock looking Chevy truck. It was running a stock 4.8 with a nitrous kit. He put it to lots of people on Friday, Saturday nights.

Lol, its not that complicated... If you have a 6.2 and a 5.3 with the same cam, fuel, boost etc. Yeah, your not getting a huge difference between the two. But if you spec each engine with its ideal setup, there's a massive difference. There's no replacement for displacement. It will always make more power in any situation with any power adder. Am I saying the 5.3 cant make massive power, NO! As long as you keep the money flowing you can make any realistic power number you want. **** there's honda civics that run turbos bigger then its engine pushing 1000 horsepower or more.

But sadly for you this means you still have the smaller engine, and it will always make less power ?

Shut up, the last time you did mod was when you had to crank the blower by hand.
