Level Kit + Wheel/Tire change - Lug and fit questions

Recommended Posts

Disclaimer: I need a lot of help and don't know what I'm doing besides the research I've done thus far. Which is mixed to say the least.

I have a 2017 Chevy Silverado with the stock 20" wheels. I have stock Z71 suspension. Stock Tires. Live in CO and blew a tire on the way up to a mountain. Riding full size spare right now, but between that blown tire and a bolt clean through another that is still holding air, I think it's about (well past) time I get new tires altogether. With that comes the choice to go ahead and get my other changes done I'd like as well, including a level kit, smaller wheels, and larger tires (Pathfinder AT 285/70 R17).

With that in mind, I'm trying to do it cheaply (I know, f*ck me, first mistake). I found some used MB Wheels TKO wheels on Craigslist off of a taco for hella cheap and picked em up without doing a ton of research (second mistake). They are 17x8.5 6x5.5, which sounds good. Where it starts sounding problematic is the lugs and bore. These wheels are M12x1.5 with a thicc bore size at something around 106mm and obv the Silverado is M14x1.5 with a bore size of 78.1mm.

Offset is 27 stock and this wheel is -6. On this offset topic, I don't even know if this will be a problem or not. (possibly third mistake?)

My question is, will these wheels function safely on the Silverado if I purchase 60 degree acorn lugs at M14x1.5? What else would I need to do to make these work? Hub Ring? Offset? Am I being a complete moron? Should I just resell the wheels and scrap this?

I have a 2015 CC and I am running the same leveling/lift kit you linked. I love it and have not had any issues yet. I have had it on for about two and half years. One thing I would suggest is shock extenders in the rear if staying with stockers for now. I didn’t and over extended mine, partially for the justification to get better shocks. Lol. I just bought new UCAs from Rough Country made to help with the angles and stress on the ball joints. Get the differential drop kit to offset the angles of the front differentials.
For wheels and tires I am running stock PPV (police interceptor wheels from the Tahoe’s) 17x8 wrapped in 285/75/17 (nearly 33s) Falken Wildpeak AT3s. I hope this helps you on your journey. I will find links on my phone and add them for the diff drop, UCAs, shocks, and rear extenders.

im on 285/75/17s  (34s) with 0 offset on a 2.5 inch level and i rub on the plastic liners and ended up trimming them a bit. I would say with -6 offset and the smaller 285/70/17 (33s) you will be fine.

On using those wheels I would check if you can even get the wheel over the lugs. Since the Taco lugs are smaller the wheel may not fit over your bigger ones. If they fit I dont see why regular 60 degree lug nuts wouldnt work. The other thing you need to look into is a hubcentric rings for those wheels so that they mount up right

Something like this: https://www.uswheeladapters.com/shop/106-7810-hubrings/

Also another thing you may want to check out is the load rating is on those wheel. They may be lower than your stock wheels and could be an issue when towing or hauling
