New 2020 Sierra owner..now what?

Recommended Posts

Hello all from Kentucky!

I'm new to the GMC world and a owner of a new 2020 Sierra 1500 SLT (built 6/29/20). I'm coming from the F-150 world (bought new in 2002). I'm hoping to get the same life (at least) out of my new truck.

I'd appreciate info or advice on any "must have" aftermarket items for my truck. Or any tips or tricks that are good to know about my truck (so many buttons and switches!))

Thanks for your time,

Daryl

First off, congrats! What engine did you end up choosing?

This is a thread I enjoy scrolling through to see what other owners have done to their trucks. It can give you good ideas you've never thought of. Or you can see what people have done that you're thinking of and how it looks.

One of my favorite additions has been the Autostop Eliminator! https://www.autostopeliminator.com/collections/gm/products/2019-silverado-sierra-autostop-eliminator

Congrats on new purchase and welcome. Must have's for a truck is very broad, because there is a plethora of things you can do to mod it or make it your own.

Here are mine:

Tint---(makes a huge difference in keeping out the heat!!)

Wheels

Tonneau Cover

CAI

Exhaust

Weather Tech Floor mats

Aeroskin Bug Deflector

Interior Trim replacement

Debadge or change badge colors

Black out Emblems or Illuminated emblem

others have done:

Autostop/DFM Eliminator (wanting to do this for mine)

Catch can (never done one, still debating on it for mine)

A custom lift

new shocks  (most on here like the Bilstein 5100's)

Running Boards

Also go to Autoanything, American Trucks, Realtrucks, or other truck websites, and look at all things that are available on your truck. You just have to put in your year, make, and model and it will show you the things that fit your truck.

It has the 5.3L V8 with DFM. Thant's for the thread link, I'll definitely check it out.

Yeah, I second the thought process of TNTSilverado above. That's largely what I've done with my 2019 RST since I've owned it for about 18 months...

-Tinted the windows

-Added BDTrims "CHEVROLET" to the tailgate (not something you can do with the Sierra unfortunately)

-Got rid of the stupid whip antenna, replaced with a 4" one

Now, I'm about to do a Borla Touring / GM Performance Exhaust catback next week. After that, I'll probably do the CAI before the EOY. Then, I'm a happy camper with this truck for a couple years. ?

Welcome!  I'm new to the Silverado world too.  So far, I have:

Removed the giant Antenna for a shorty.

Had the front windows tinted to match the rear.

Added Running Boards.

Tonneau Cover

Toyo Open Country AT3 Tires (stock 18's)

K&N Panel Filter

Swapped out the fake wood interior trim

Added a black chrome exhaust tip (single tip on my truck)

Can someone point me in the direction of whats available for this? I was immediately turned off by this when I saw the interior of the Silverado. Does anyone make carbon fiber trim?

Easier and less expensive just to remove them and have them wrapped in a color or style of your liking.
