Is the RC level kit safe for Traill boss?

You’re right. I could’ve swore I saw a similar warning with the 1.75” kit. It’s crazy that only .25” more height requires that warning.

Sometime a little goes a long way. A 1/4” on a taper or angle over a distance could end up being significant .

Thats why I called motofab, fabtech readylift and asked some questions.

According to motofab if you do a lower spacer its safer as you do not run into ball joint angle problems at full droop.

Now a top spacer is not ideal on these trucks and even the bottom spacer they are recommending 1”. Hence why they arent offering options for taller levels.

My thoughts are Ready lift is doing the max bottom spacer which should be comparable to the motofab in dimensions , but its the additional top spacer which is causing the issue of ball joint angle at full droop.

This is why they include uca in the kit.

So in summary if you went to increase your front end clearance by 1”, it would be nearly level. You could go with the motofab spacer which is easier and quicker to install and less costly.

Motofab stated the 1” spacer in the front maintains GM tolerances for both ball joint and cv angles. So just another avenue , some might want more height than the 1”.

Although the motofab lifts a full true 1” and the ready lift I believe is called out as 1.75 but actually does 1.5. So its not far off.

So what is the concenous on all the leveling kits for TB’s? I was leaning toward the Ready Lift 1.75” with the new UCA’s but now I’m unsure. This truck will be pretty much a pavement pounder and maybe a few times into the woods to drag out a bear or deer.

So the the Trail boss factory lift entails the following.

Mechanical

Different CV shafts, new front impact horn lowering adapter, taller front struts, longer rear shocks, rear spring spacers, taller jounce bumper mount, u-bolts/nuts, and longer reach bottle jack

Correct.  But the bottle jack was the EXACT same part number and reach as the stock jack that came in my LTZ.

The main thing to look at here is the CV shafts. They are different on the Trail boss and AT4 then a standard 1500

I bought the motofab 1” spacer last night. Excited to get the front up a little bit more than it is currently.

whats the largest tires I can run on the factory 18’s without issue?

Ive been scouring for info on this. So far Ive found that on the Trail Boss, 295/70/18 will work. Seems its the wider tires that present an issue, 12.5” for example which are easier to find in more options may rub.

Sucks with the 295’s that there aren’t a lot of options, I’ve seen some on here running 35’s in stock wheels, but then read some can’t.

had an offer for $450 for my factory duratracs with 6600 miles on them. Is that fair?

Im in Canada, I have 1000-1100 miles on mine. Only because I took a 600 mile trip on the highway. Im going to post mine for 800 canadian. I think they are 3-325 a tire new plus tax and rubber fee etc.

Im someone offers 700 I would consider it for me. 450 us is about 600-625 canadian atm. To give an idea.

This is incorrect , its not a leveling kit on the trailboss , its a lift. And the UCA on the trail boss are not the same as ones on a regular 1500, so they have already compensated for any ball joint angle from the factory. You are just leveling the front end , there are 1” levels for the TB that have  nearly 0 effect on ball joint angle so no need to change UCA.

But to each there own. People have done the level with UCA and experienced failures lol, bad installs are bad installs .

This is false. The upper controls arms for both the trailboss and the standard height 1500's are exactly the same part number as looked up by VIN numbers in GM's parts catalog. As well, GM offers the factory lift as an accessory package that also DOES NOT include control arms.

Yes its the CV that is replaced on the Trail Boss vs standard 1500. The premise remains the same its not simply a leveling kit.

Any updates on the 1”? I’m considering the same. I currently have 35x11.5x20 without level

Nope, got a tracking # today but hasn’t updated yet. Hopefully I’ll have it by the weekend and have it on the weekend after. I’m going to put it on myself. Doesn’t look hard at all.

So the verdict is that the 1” block is safe? I talked to my dealership and they use a rough country 2” that goes above the strut. It’s $900, takes all day to install and yields 1.5”.

Did you order the gmc 1” or at4 specific 1”? Motofab told me they are the same thing but the at4 designation is $3 more
